  • A comment on Conversation: Why do we bother with spelling?

Apr 29 2013: Well I think spelling is obviously important...
Even if writing in a completely jumbled way was considered okay, it doesn't really improve anything does it?
we need to type the same number of letters, so we are not really reducing the amount of time it takes to type.
So basically we are not simplifying anything and it takes the same or even more amount of time to type and read.
  • A comment on Conversation: Your beliefs on where Morality comes from?

Apr 28 2013: Morality comes from many sources. But popular opinion is what determines what is morally acceptable and what is not.
For example, owning slaves was considered to be morally acceptable behavior and now it isn't.
Morality is our definition of what is right, and its constantly evolving along with our increasing understanding of life.
  • A comment on Conversation: With growing internet penetration and large human capital Indians can influence world views via social networking sites.

Apr 28 2013: Yes, what you are saying is definitely a possibility.
I am sure that the Indian influence is going get bigger, but I don't really like the idea of one country influencing majority of the world's views and I hope that that doesn't happen.

A comment on Conversation: Will imparting education to children in slums enrich their lives without the basic atmosphere, basic needs ?

Apr 26 2013: Child labor doesn't just exist in some places in India. Its is widely prevalent, even in major cities.
Imparting education to children will not enrich their lives immediately, it simply prepares them for the future.
But in order to ensure that the education that we provide them reaches them, a good atmosphere is necessary.
The government has taken measures to address these issues, but like all other government measures, corruption and indifference has made them inefficient.

A comment on Conversation: What leads us to decide?

Apr 26 2013: Is any decision we ever take in life ever really our own? of course not.
During our infancy our parents and relatives take our decisions for us, later on friends, teachers, media, religion, society etc. influence our decisions.
Our decisions are also based on what we observe and what we experience and these decisions formulate our personality which influences our future decisions.
What I am trying to say is, most of our decisions are regulated by different sources of authority, so our future decisions are a result of a unique combination of all the above mentioned influences and therefore all our decisions are authentic.

A comment on Conversation: What created the universe?

Apr 26 2013: For some reason we are obsessed with the notion that there absolutely has to be a reason for the existence of the universe.
May be there is or may be there isn't any reason for our existence.
I just like the idea of universe existing for the sake of existing and that there is no beginning or end.
Now that doesn't mean that I think we should stop finding out the reason for existence, if there is any, but we should also consider the notion that there doesn't have to be a reason for our existence.

A reply on Conversation: Does permitting same-sex marriage lead to permitting polygamy? And so what?

Apr 26 2013: You are basing your argument under the assumption that Incest and beastiality is natural. It is NOT natural and is harmful. Incest leads to inbreeding and beastiality is cruel to the animals.
Homosexual marriage however involves two consenting adults.
So I think that Homosexuality and polygamy IS justified based on the natural right to marry but incest and beastiality isn't.
  • A reply on Conversation: Whats the reason for rising unemployment in India ?

Apr 25 2013: Such self industrious courses are already in existence.
And many are taking them which has resulted in a large number micro and small enterprises.
But since the Population of India is so large that such courses will not help everyone.

A comment on Conversation: Does everything that we do in life revolve around finding a mate?

    Apr 25 2013: Not everything.....
Some of our actions are geared towards improving our place in society and a lot of our actions like travelling, listening to music etc. are for personal satisfaction...

A comment on Conversation: Whats the reason for rising unemployment in India ?

Apr 25 2013: Majority of the huge number of Engineering graduates that are being "manufactured" in India are unemployable mainly because the quality of education is poor.
They have poor communication skills, poor subject knowledge and even the so called top students in most colleges only by heart the subject matter and do not have any practical knowledge.
Also politics and corruption play a huge role....
