Aug 25 2012: Taking a moment to appreciate the fact that despite insurmountable odds, the unique individual that is I, has existed to experience one more wonderful day on this beautiful Earth.
Aug 25 2012: Without bad, there is no good. The same can be said concerning pain and comfort. Fortunately, these responses exist in life such that we are able to distinguish from the two and appreciate the positive end of the spectrum. Unfortunately, not everyone experiences these responses in a balanced manner, leaning either to the positive or negative end of the spectrum. Thus is the nature of life; some are born within situations where there exists more opportunity for pain than comfort and others are born within situations where there exists more opportunity for comfort than pain. Being born in the latter, it is easy for me to state that regardless within which situation we were introduced at birth, we exist and this in itself is something for which all should be appreciative when considering the overwhelming odds against our unique individual existence.
Aug 25 2012: Fact: Perfect shapes only exist in the mind. No physical sphere, cube, pyramid, etc. actually exists in the physical world. Always thought that was interesting since you can measure dimensions to infinite numbers of decimals.
Aug 25 2012: First of all, do what makes you happy in life. There is no point doing something which will bring you no satisfaction. As you are anticipating, the journey will be difficult. All the more reason to work diligently. Just remember that you are more than capable. That being said, do not let yourself get too high or low in your confidence, stay level and focused no matter your current situation whether good or bad. Take the advice from the people which you are asking, but remember that it is up to you to deem it fit or unfit for your use, including this piece of advice.
I am a theoretical physics major in Canada. I also play varsity basketball which is time consuming. I am succeeding in my program as of yet. I did not know as much about Physics at age 14 that you seem to know. I am doing fine so, by comparison, you should be just fine.
Keep happy, keep confident, keep focused, keep working and keep taking all, and using some, advice.
Aug 25 2012: Critical thinking, the basis of philosophy, transcends every single aspect of life, and thus school, and should thus be a mandatory class at some point in secondary school. It is a tool which everyone uses on a daily basis. To teach methods of using this tool more effectively would at the very least serve to improve the lives of all students. The greatest challenge consists of convincing students about the importance and relevance of this subject in their everyday lives, no matter their ambitions and endeavours.
