How can ' terrorism' be effectively checked if the developed world has double standards in itself?
You assume too much, you also over generalize and simplifly, maybe that is why you reason that way. I grew up in the under developed world and had my fair share of exposure to third world problems. Unlike you I tend to place blame of the world's problems on multiple countries and factors, not on a single country. I make it a point to get my information from as many sources as possible from the most liberal to the most conservative to make up my mind, so don't accuse me of being brainwashed when you seem to repeat the same one sided argument. And yes I misspelled pseudo so psue me...

Education kills Curiosity.
Killing is a strong word. Communism has a very similar approach where the individual is subjected to the will of 'the people' and what is 'needed' in society rather than what the individual wants to do. Individuals can act more freely in a Capitalist society rather than a Communist one. So communist education kills curiosity too but only after it tortures it. Having said that, I see our educational system as flawed and in need of revamping but not as the demonized 'personality killing' institution that you see. I see it as a system that tries not to reinvent the wheel on every cycle with every student. How many times do we need to discover DNA? How many times do we need to invent an airplane? How many times do we need to discover physics laws? If you establish the base and allow that curiosity to flourish the possibilities are endless. Curiosity is a 'desire to know' that should be used as a guiding tool but not as the end itself.

Clarification of Gun Terms: Semi-automatic, Assault, Machine gun
George, These people need to find something to talk about. They get paid for being loud, obnoxious and for taking a side. All of them, Morgan, O'Reily, Olberman, Maddow are to be trusted with a big BUT in the end. This whole assault rifle ban is virtually cosmetic, except for the magazines. I don't know if the shooter converted the rifle to full-auto. I am sure it's doable and I am sure there are plenty of sources on the internet or in ranges all over the country. A gun is not a complicated thing.

Clarification of Gun Terms: Semi-automatic, Assault, Machine gun
John, You are trying to split hairs. A ban in assault weapons won't solve anything. In a classroom sized space there is no viable cover that can stop 9mm, .40 or .45. Magazine capacity is irrelevant if the lunatic has 20 minutes to shoot and plenty of extra magazines. Take the The Virginia Tech shooter who used handguns, moved a lot more than this lunatic did and killed 30 people with 28 head shots. How long did he have? 12 minutes and a lot of moving targets. There is a level of sensationalism associated with this tragedy, we need to peel of the emotion associated with it in order to make the right decisions. I agree in spirit that certain weapons should be banned from civilians but that is not the solution nor a start. Police response should be looked at, gun free zones security should be reassessed, weapons permits, magazines size and mental illness should also be included.

Clarification of Gun Terms: Semi-automatic, Assault, Machine gun
George, The shooter used a semi-automatic gun, meaning one round fired per trigger squeeze. the majority of modern pistols are semi-automatic. The "action" is a bit more complicated to explain but almost irrelevant when talking pistols. Arguably, if you keep the same magazine capacity (at 30), the same short range and the same 20 minutes shooting window, this guy would have, unfortunately, done the same with the glock he was carrying. As for revolvers, those have rapid loaders that can put 6 shots back in the drum in seconds. If you are curious go to you tube and find some rapid shooting or reloading and you will be surprised.

Should parents, teachers and other personnel be able to carry a concealed weapon in a school?
Colleen, No need to get worked up. Clouds your judgement. Yes, teachers should be allowed (not forced) to carry a concealed weapon. Your question is a narrow minded one. No parent wants its child close to any shooting, but given the option of defending children versus passively praying for luck, I rather go with the former. Is it potentially messy? Sure. A tragedy is a tragedy. But letting those sick psychos dictate the terms is a moral disgrace.

Colleen, The shooter did not have automatic weapons, semi-autos is what he had, one shot per trigger squeeze. He did not do this 'so fast', he had 20 minutes. My enlightening example was to point out to you that even with a small 'slow' gun he would have had time time to put two rounds per victim. Go ahead, ask your friends if 20 minutes make a difference with a small gun, that Colleen in an unopposed shooting situation is an eternity. Also the guns were registered to the mom, not the shooter. If I get a gun that is not registered to me I am committing a crime. If the mom gave the guns to him then she committed a crime. Either way, he did not acquire those guns legally. You said "we will not solve a gun issue by bringing more guns into the scene" your words. Spell out the underlying issues and put them into the debate. As a rule I don't trust anyone that likes cats, but I am sure Bob is a wise guy. However, the argument of training goes out the window by just looking at the issue from the vantage point of the shooters. None of these guys are ex-cops, ex-military or weapons-trained and are able to do a lot of damage. Letting a threat like that go unchecked is a major mistake that will continue to claim lives.

I never said it should become a requirement. I said volunteer. There is plenty of people that are first aid / CPR volunteers that are not doctors or intended to be ones. I understand none of you want to wield lethal force but if you wanted to you should not be stopped. By definition the evil ones will not follow any rules, so don't think for a second rules will protect you. Thank you for taking care of our children.
