My TED Story

I was invited by Ben Saunders a TEDster to look into going to TEDGlobal2007. I was one of the fortunate few to be awarded a fellowship and was blown away by the passion, energy and ideas of those who attended the conference. Being in Tanzania was a life experience that I will always remember and I hope to come back one day and speak to the TED Conference about some of the work I have been involved as a result of this opportunity.

Sep 4 2008: I remember this speech very well. I do remember the slides moving quite fluently at the speech though and think it is a crying shame that one of the livliest speeches effectively had some of the funniest slides censored. Or maybe its just me.
  • A comment on Talk: Ben Saunders skis to the North Pole

Jul 1 2007: Ben is an amazing person to listen to online or in person.
He reignited my passion for TED again and was instrumental in me going to TEDGlobal2007.
    A truly magnificent explorer indeed!
  • A comment on Talk: Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala: Want to help Africa? Do business here

Jul 1 2007: Having sat down and met this remarkable lady in person, this speech still resonates with me.
I have met a number of people who have had family members who have lost their lives because of corruption in Nigeria. She stood up and will continue to use her influence.

People may not like her views on asset recovery, potential investment in Nigerian companies, but hey its a start. Meeting a number of other Nigerians who have benefited from external investment shows that there is a start. Corruption abounds everywhere and I applaud her for what she has done.

For some people it's hard to give people a little credit for what they do, but heck it's a start.

Jul 1 2007: I love her passion. We could do with a couple of Majora's over here in London
