  Apr 27 2013: How do we make the lions understand the caribou's right to life? How can the shark be made to understand the tuna's right to life? My point is that animals cannot be made to understand or respect the concept of rights.
  
  Only humans understand the concept of rights, so only humans have them. We can (and should) choose to treat animals with respect and kindness, but that's humans making a conscious decision to do so, not because animals have rights.

  Apr 26 2013: While humans have a moral responsibility to treat animals in a humane fashion, animals do not intrinsically have rights.

  Apr 16 2013: I subscribe to an online backup service, so I stay backed up continuously, I don't have to remind myself, and my files are not at risk to fire, flood, or theft.

  Apr 15 2013: Imagine the military and terrorist applications if such a human-specific toxin were possible.

  Apr 15 2013: The fundamental problem is that communism does NOT work as intended. Communism removes all motivation for an individual to excel, so that all that's left is mediocrity. We can see after decades of communism in Russia, China, North Korea, and Cuba where that leads us.

• A comment on Conversation: I would like those who choose to participate, to wirte a New Constitution for the United States to address the current issues at hand.

  Apr 15 2013: Political parties are an unintended byproduct of our first-past-the-post voting system. I would change that to a ranked voting system.
  
  I would also impose term limits on all elected officials.
