Working children: should we prohibit, permit or promote it.
haha thanks. All I am saying is that the unemployment rate for people who seek education to become specialists in a field have a much lower unemployment rate than people who do not continue education after grade school. The people who work at McDonald's are probably grateful to have a job, but if they ever worked in a career in which they are treated with respect and as a professional, they would probably not be content to return to their fast food job. Ignorance is bliss?

If you are referring to children as in young adults 16 and up, working during the school breaks is valuable skill building. However America really needs to focus on furthering interest in education, not fast cash made at an hourly job. The only value I can see from working is kids realizing the burden of punching into a clock and the menial salary they will making working an hourly job. As a 21 year old college student, the most valuable experience I gained from working an hourly, manual labor job is the realization that I didn't want to spend my life in that "career field". Also, I realized education could help me escape the fate of living pay check to pay check. ON the flipside, I think every entitled arrogant student coming out of America's school system needs to learn the same lesson I did.I say, the day they turn 15, send their lazy ass to McDonalds and let them learn exactly what they willl get without an education. Then send them back to school and ask, "You ready to learn NOW buddy?" I wasn't in high school that long ago and I live in Plano Texas, one of the most wealthy counties in the state. I see the spoiled crap that comes out of the high schools. NOT promising.
