3 hours ago: I'm not satisfied. During her talk I think that she was actually wearing the bacterial clothing and by the looks of it is too thin. Leaving the waterproof problem aside, I don't think that it is efficient. The bacteria needs a constant temperature and lots of time. It wouldn't be a great idea to try to mass product the clothing. However, her job is a fashion designer and a fashion designer who made a new way for clothing is a brilliant person.
May 8 2013: It's not six words but I feel that this is just the right statement.
"Impossible is just the possible that someone has not put enough effort to make it come true."
May 8 2013: Listening and attention. Everyday in class I work hard to pay attention and I think I'm one of the best in my school but sometimes I find myself thinking about a wider range about the school curriculum and it makes me wonder why I'm not paying attention to my teacher. My few distractions haven't given me any disadvantages but it makes me think that listening requires a lot of focus. It is easy to concentrate for more than 2 hours if I'm studying alone but when it comes to listening to classes I don't know why but it is a lot harder to listen. When I go into classes I hear and when there's something to write down things happen. I typically get a question for everything I write and after a moment I realize it is obvious. When I listen to internet lectures I always need a paper to write down to focus.
I would really be happy if schools would teach listening. But, in a point of view all the school classes needs listening and making another class for listening doesn't change anything. I think to improve one's listening skill one should practice a lot by listening to many things. After school when I go to my home I feel how quiet the world is and how much sound there can be in such a quiet place.
Apr 30 2013: This talk gives me many questions. It might be because of my narrow point of view but I'm curious. Yes, I like her idea but it doesn't give me anything. Will the technology be attachable to cars in use? Will the technology be safe? Will the technology be practical? First, if cars could "talk", it means that every car needs a computer which can run algorithms about the traffic flow. Otherwise, there must be a building which holds to whole traffic system. Obviously the system would be a great target for terrorism. Also, the technology would involve GPS systems or it wouldn't be able to cover large ranges of traffic. That information about a person's location could be easily misused.
My other thought is that most accidents happen because of inattention and this technology wouldn't change anything. Cars follow their drivers' commands and no matter what the cars says the driver can go anywhere they want to.
Apr 6 2013: I'm not sure if conductive ink pens would make changes in the way we make electronics. By looking at the status quo of today's technology I don't think there would be a time when we would use conductive ink pens. I think is a good kit for kids but without advancements it's just a toy. One application for this technology is using it for signs. Originally LED sign have a ruff feeling when you look at them but using this technology you could soften the letters making it more attractive. One thing I'm curious about is that is the ink permanent and water proof or not. There would be less applications of this technology if it isn't sustainable.
Apr 3 2013: Wow....really a lot of info in 14 minutes. The conclusion that chimpanzees are smarter than humans make me feel a bit disappointed. When I read or see about behavioral psychology I always think how can a person think of that and right now I'm in the same state. But still I'm amazed by how people can think numerous steps ahead of other people. At first I didn't understand why 33 was the first step. I thought that 66 would be the first step. But hearing on I was bewitched by the steps people took. I feel that I am to naive about how people think.
Mar 27 2013: Do higher child survival rates mean less population growth? Common sense tells me that it's wrong, but I don't know. Even if the child survival rate goes up, the number of children per household would be the same. Thus, inducing more need for food and essentials. I think that education is more primary for the poor countries. With enhanced medical systems people would live more but they would be in the same situation. Starvation and poverty would only be solved when people get educated. There is a saying that it is better to learn how farm than getting a sack of wheat. Education would eventually lead to a higher child survival rate. By Mr. Rosling talk, I felt the problem we would meet 40 years later. It really seems to me that there will be a time when we humans become a multi-planetary organism.
Mar 21 2013: Wow... Mr. Elon you are a god. Really it is amazing how you succeeded in all of those different fields. But the best thing I like is SpaceX. I always thought of working at NASA or SpaceX as my biggest goal and seeing the CEO of SpaceX just fills my heart. Reusable rockets... My first guess is that it must have many faults. From my dad's saying the more complex a machine is the more probability it will break down. The worst possible situation is a spacecraft hitting a city. It's sort of an imaginary idea but someone could easily alter the course of a rocket using a GPS spoofer. The possibility would be low but I think it would be higher than the possibility of explosion. On the contrary I think it is a great idea.
