Jul 3 2012: Well put. I don't know about other illnesses, but as a fellow sufferer of depression I agree. This struggle has cost me dearly, including a marriage. Asking if I would like an instant cure for the pain in my heart is like asking if I'd like to have a broken leg healed. I'm not going to say, "no, no, life is more interesting because I hobble around in pain all day". When I'm at my lowest point I don't create great work, I sleep all day or sit on the couch and stare out the window.
I've had only bad experiences with medications, but therapy has helped me manage. It's not an easy illness to live with but I wish you all the best in your fight.
