Jun 14 2012: I actually seem surprisingly like a normal person once you get me out of this whole existential thought mode. I'll admit, I phrased this whole thing badly.
And yes, I am single. I gave up on that long ago.
Jun 14 2012: I think you may be confusing people under the poverty line living in council estates or low income housing who can get a reasonable standard of living with state benefits, with people who are living on the streets and unable to access assistance.
In my home country of Ireland this has been big in the news over the past 2-3 days as a burried report was unveiled that expressed concerns that 4/10 people would be better off on unemployment benefits and other welfare subsidies and exeptions than on a low income wage.
Jun 14 2012: Killing is part of nature. Animals kill other animals but are we advanced enough so as not to call ourselves animals? When does one stop being part of a pack and start being part of a civilisation? Nature is a brutal entity. This question exends into the entire structure of life. Should nature exist?
Jun 14 2012: Sounds like you need a research grant, not an online forum to answer this one I'm afraid. I can however offer some sceptisism over these "light in the end of the tunnel" glimpses as dreams or halucinations can often be related to one's surroundings/situation at the time, ie. being on the verge of death, and dreams and halucinations are by nature very abstract and otherworldly.
Jun 14 2012: Completely true. I guess I was just imagining a more primal backdrop when I came up with the idea. I initially was goingto use the words "Would woman have..." in the title but it sounded too blunt and insensitive, I thought.
Jun 14 2012: I have not even found a dream to have yet. There are career paths I reckon I'd be suited for. There are experiences I'd be interested in such as travel. Perhaps I could find love but I have a suspicion that the reality is only but a shadow of the fantasy that advertising firms and whimsical poets try to tell me it is.
Jun 14 2012: It's all down to the whole assertiveness conflict that is agressive assertiveness vs passiveness. I think it all relies on a healthy balance.
Jun 14 2012: For me personally:
A narrative will nearly always evoke greater emotion and alter your opinions or beliefs
... but a documentary has the power to show you something fasinating and make want to go out and discover it.
Jun 14 2012: Thanks for showing interest firstly and also for the article, perhaps I should start worrying over the bit that said "This type of reproduction has been induced artificially in a few species".
Also it's very open minded and scientific to suggest this could go both ways. Apparently during the hunter-gatherer eras men would 9/10 times come back from hunting empty handed while women provided for us all with gathering other foods.
