Many of us have been taught that, at least in many "western" style democracies, the judiciary is independent. Superficially this might be so. But almost invariably judges come from a privileged stratum of the concerned society. Career judges are very rarely fair in an absolute sense since intuitively they will defend the order that has promoted them. Consider the pecking order.

Interestingly when we learn to write stories we learn one basic principle: any story should have a beginning, a middle and an end. The problem we are writing the story of the universe from within. Science came up with the "big bang" theory and many religions with some creation story. Religions are somewhat more romantic and closer to the people. Unfortunately many scientists want to "elevate" science to the status of a religion. As much as I admire people like Richard Dawkins I think this approach is wrong. Science is not a tool to find the truth but to give a "logical" explanation of observable natural phenomena. Truth is a moral term. Truth is in the eyes of the beholder.
