May 13 2012: I agree with Mr. Johnson about the rehabilitation process having to start from the inside of each individual rather than the individual being told what they need to do or not to do. Coaching and mentors are lacking in society. Digging deeper into this topic, it is seen that the rehab process needs to include social and economic tools for an individual to succeed. Often we have seen individuals return to the system because of the lack of support on the outside. Support is defined as giving them the means so that they can help themselves be better people. That includes us being there for them and supporting them when they get out. It also includes educating them so they can be and feel that they are good contributors to society rather than looking down on them. With regard to Judicial policies in the US, that needs to change from the top down with good people who care in positions of authority.
