  • A comment on Talk: Candy Chang: Before I die I want to...

Sep 5 2012: Before I die I want to know who I am !! (The truth about my existence and conscious life)
  • A reply on Talk: Nathan Wolfe: What's left to explore?

Jun 2 2012: I agree with you Eric..And also look at the vast space of universe itself..There are approx 10^11 galaxies in universe and each contains almost 10^11 stars...how far have we explored? Only one star (that is our sun and that too not fully!!). Same is true for the micro world as well..every time we believe we've found smallest unit that matter is made off our theory has been proven wrong ..we end up finding further small units. So basically we hang at some point on a scale whose lower and upper ends are extended to infinity... Interesting enough..the concept of infinity itself is hard to grasp..what does it actually mean? What's the end of space and what's beyond that? Here we are caught in paradox because we try to define space in terms of space !!

Looks like there is just too much to explore !!
  • A comment on Conversation: What is the most awe inspiring fact you know?

Jun 2 2012: The fact about our existence and conscious experience. And if you believe in Big Bang theory then the fact that me, you, this house, car, earth and all galaxies were all just one single point with infinite density !! :)
  • A reply on Talk: Nathan Wolfe: What's left to explore?

Jun 2 2012: Yes I know but I dont think there is any significant progress made so far.. @Mark, I've read philosophy extensively and I know that philosophy tries to explains it to an extent but again there is no significant milestone achieved.. I would like to see more speakers coming to TED and talking about consciousness :)

May 29 2012: How about exploring "self" ? I don't think we have made any progress in finding what "consciousness" is and how subjective experience arises..!! Understanding "self" (subject) should help us better understand the "world around us" (objects), in my humble opinion.
  • A comment on Talk: Rory Sutherland: Perspective is everything

May 6 2012: Perspective is the most important thing and that's what has been thought by many spiritual masters and traditions. Rory reiterated the same truth with few very effective examples. I have some real experience, few years back I was interviewed by two different firms and got selected in one that had less reputation and pay. For a day or so I was very sad (As more reputed/pay company rejected me) but after working in a firm for 2 yrs I realized those 2 years were most amazing yrs of my life (despite less pay+reputation) as I enjoyed my work, culture in that firm and got lot of time to do my hobbies. Now, when I look in past 2 yr back on a day when I got rejection letter from reputed company and analyze suffering that I had, I realize it was all delusional !! If I had got my perspective correct at that time, thinking about more global picture rather then judging it based on narrow, shallow, rigid standards, I would have been more calm and peaceful. So yes Perspective is everything !!

A reply on Talk: Matthieu Ricard: The habits of happiness

May 6 2012: Zolan, I had same concern as you and believed its not quite possible to normal householder until I started practicing it in real life. We humans always think and judge events in our life in very local context and hence it creates suffering. Most of the times our sufferings are delusional and we can remove them by bringing in clarity in thought. I once interviewed in two different companies and got selected in one that had less reputation and pay. For a day or so I was very sad (As more reputed/pay company rejected me) but after working in a firm for 2 yrs I realized those 2 years was most happiest time (despite less pay+reputation) in my life as I enjoyed my work, culture and got lot of time to do my hobbies. Now, when I look in past 2 yr back on a day when I got rejection letter from reputed company and analyze suffering that I had, I realize it was all delusional !! now I think I should have partied on that day as it was going to make next 2 yrs of my life simply awesome..

With that experience now whenever I face conflicts, suffering, I try not to judge things from very local, narrow perspective and that helps me in keeping myself calm, more stronger from within! Being happy is possible, all it needs is clarity in thought, little bit meditation and practice.
