Paradise at last!
Kaitlyn: Yes, it sounds as if your daughters to young to enjoy the park. When I was last there, over 30 years ago, my daughter brought along 5 of her girl friends. We stopped for pizza on the way home. Now days, my daughter takes me places. LOL

How can we talk to kids?
I only have a daughter, of whom I’m very proud. When she was growing up I waited for her to ask the questions and always tried to stick to reality for answers. At five she asked about Santa Claus, I explained that it was her mother and myself that supplied the Christmas gifts, but that Santa was based on a true the story of a Bishop from Turkey that gave gifts from house to house around the Christmas holidays. At eleven when she asked about the facts of life, I kept right to Gray’s Anatomy for the answers but also explained that any children that came out of such an encounters, would be her responsibility to feed, cloth and shelter for the next eighteen years. Then, with the help of my daughter, we played a game on my wife. I knew she was squeamish about explaining sex to her pre-teen daughter, so, every day for a month my daughter would ask her mother about the facts of life and every day my wife would come to me asking advise. It was a good father /daughter bonding experience. Also, when she was very young, I tried my best to keep control of the TV channels that she watched. I would never let her see how the channel was changed. She only watched educational TV. When she wanted to know what TV shows were next up; I would hand her the TV Guide and explain how to decipher the text. Of course, she couldn’t read the Guide. I gave her all the help she needed and by the time, she entered kindergarten, she was reading the TV Guide. Today, she has earned her Masters degree in Science and teaches high school Science.

Maths came before music
Pabitra: Which came first Math or Music? Is that the question? Well are we talking counting on your fingers and then displaying that count to a fellow primate or addiction/ subtraction, multiplication/division, algebra and trigonometry. Now when I was a teenager and went to impress the girls I bought a bongo drum and beat it till my fingers burnt. There were times when it might have even sounded rhythmic. I never learned to play anything more sophisticated. So starting on the low end of math and music it could be a question that will forever remain unanswered. Early primates cracking seeds or nuts on a log could have synchronized their striking of the vegetation, thus establishing the first orchestra. Then again, in the same clearing some distant relative of yours and mine may have been using her fingers and toes to comprehend the needs of this primate pack.

Which is worse in media, nudity or gore?
The media- Movies, TV cable or broadcast, at least here in the states is loaded with violence. Five-year-olds see more people killed in a week on cable TV, than combat veterans did in a week, from WWII, either side. Even the sex is loaded with abuse and violence. I like the European models of entertainment were violence is at a minimum and sex is humorous and entertaining. It’s no wonder that our marriages in the USA are falling apart faster that they are getting married. Kids today are fearful of “Marriage” for they have seen or survived the trauma of a divorce. I blame it on the crap [Excuse the expression] that is pumped out weekly from Los Angeles, the writers have found that all you need is computerized special effects and a sexy girl in harms way and you have a riveted audience. You don’t need a plot or story – just blow up a car or a plane with a sexy woman inside and it sells. If I were a Governor or Mayor, I’d push for a ‘Violence Tax’, where a film or TV shows would be taxed on the number of violent event within a presentation. Those funds could be funneled into mental health facilities or the jails if necessary. As far as the FCC goes it’s an agency that is in bed with the big media corporations. The only thing you can expect from this government is legislation to make more money for the Corporations – not to insure public assess or censorship of transmitted programs. But then I don’t have problems with nudity – only with violence.

Paradise at last!
Kaitylin: I was just looking at NetFlix. They have a selection of Campbell videos: The Power of Myth, Mythos, The Hero’s Journey and A Mythic Journey. His books are many: The Hero with a Thousand Faces, The Mask of God, The Power of Myth, Follow your Bliss and more. I prefer the videos to the books. I think he gets the point over, clearer, when he’s talking at you rather then reading his works.

Paradise at last!
I like the Gnostic gospel of Thomas where the disciples ask, “when will the kingdom of the father be” And Jesus answers. “The kingdom will not be here or there but rather the kingdom is right here and now but men do not see it.” As humans, we are perfectly adapted to our environment. We have a world of riveting challenges; it can even be exciting. Paradise then is the proper mix of hot and cold, good and bad, right and wrong. If it remains interesting, it can be heaven. If your lucky enough to have someone to love then you are definitely there.
