  • A reply on Conversation: WHY DO PEOPLE MARRY?

Sep 14 2012: yes my friend ... i guess, and i will never be sure that my example would/should apply to you or any other individual. and I'm being extremely truthful when i say i guess.

but now "i guess" i understand your question a bit more so let me ask you kindly to define exactly what you mean by the word marriage.

Sep 14 2012: it is important to really think about such a decision , and i know for sure that a lot of people around did marry without knowing the real reason for it.
Why is a powerful question, but at some point maybe i would ask "do you want to get married?"

i was actually answering the question "why do people marry?" , not the question "why do people choose/want to marry?", simply because a lot of them don't choose to marry "not to mention there choice of the other half =P"

i completely agree with you, one must have his own choices for his own reasons. following the main stream may be the easy thing to do but it is not always the right thing. in the same time i completely agree with finding ways to adapt with traditions and cultural characteristics of each society "sometimes playing around it" in order to bring evolution to this society

as for me ... i still have no personal experience in this matter. but i guess marriage would be the normal evolution of a deep truthful supportive relationship.
  • A comment on Conversation: What water do you drink where you live?

Sep 14 2012: in Damascus, Syria water is delivered by a pipe system and it is mixed from several resources "basically groundwater" and some comes from an old river "Barada"
Damascus is famous for water quality, but i'm afraid it is only a historical truth as the groundwater quality is really bad now due to the bad drainage system in the last 25 years. chloride is used intensively now

water is available only few hours daily so we have to store enough for drinking "usually in small plastic tanks" and cleaning "almost 2 cubic meters daily in a metal tank on the roof of every house"

Sep 14 2012: around me they marry because the whole society is pushing them to get married, somehow the whole life is built around this single purpose of getting married and have children

BTW .., it is not acceptable here to have a child without being married
  • A reply on Conversation: Is the world overpopulated?

Sep 14 2012: i agree ... resources are still enough, maybe not for a long time
managing these resources is governed by greed so far, sustainable management is the key and empathy would play such a great role to do the change.

A comment on Conversation: Do we see the exact same color?

Sep 14 2012: my answer would be ....sure we don't see the same colors, even the eyes of the same person don't see same colors

as an example... when you are outside and the sky is blue "i hope" try closing one eye "covering it with your hand would be better" for lets say 30 sec . after that try comparing the sky color impression you have from each eye alone. i think this is related to the chemical sensors that we have in our eyes.

i also think the differences can be much greater when comparing two different persons, it's all about how our brains process the electrical waves they get. maybe the way i see darkness and light are reversed in my mind along with there labels "as white and black" .... maybe i see things like you would see them in a negative form, and maybe this is all nonsense and no one will ever prove it =P
