  • A reply on Talk: Regina Dugan: From mach-20 glider to humming bird drone

Mar 30 2012: It was not my intention to argue the point that the US choice of battles was completely honorable in all aspects. Clearly if we were to attack ANY entity on this planet people would make assumptions about our underlying motives. The truth is that we are now a global economy in the truest sense. It is easy to point out conflicts of interest because we have an innumerable amount if interconnected political and financial obligations with ALL agencies worldwide.

The important part to remember about the US “war machine” is the fact that these areas of interest were already plagued by desolation. Crimes against humanity were an everyday part of life for a people that have never enjoyed these simple freedoms we take for granted. There is a large amount of good to be done in overthrowing corruption. People deserve freedom, and safety… how else can you counter oppression?

Mar 29 2012: This is so true. It is funny how having a relationship with someone completely changes how you might act or react to them. If you are cut off in traffic you may instantly lose your mind in spitting a fit of rage, but if you then realize it was your brother in the driver’s seat of that car you might flip just as quick to laughter.

I think you should immediately call your brother, and for no reason at all sing him a song! The full thing too… stick with it!

A comment on Talk: Regina Dugan: From mach-20 glider to humming bird drone

Mar 29 2012: How is it that the majority of posts I see here are so close minded about an agency that is actively creating real solutions to problems that plague humanity as a whole? Is it the fact that they are a part of the US government? Maybe we should consider the reasons behind the fact that you are sitting safely behind your thousands of dollars worth of computing technology in comfort while you freely share your opinion with the world. Remember that freedom requires weapons of war in our human society, but the research and technology behind these weapons are the building blocks of your every day lives.

I thought the talk was excellent, and we shouldn’t be selective in applauding their accomplishments.

Well I was completely wrong... THE RIGHT pen and paper work just fine in the shower!
  • A comment on Talk: Billy Collins: Everyday moments, caught in time

Mar 23 2012: This was incredibly entertaining. I especially like his new poem at the end even though it made me feel that “insignificant” is not a strong enough word to describe my own accomplishments in this world!

A comment on Talk: Taylor Wilson: Yup, I built a nuclear fusion reactor

Mar 22 2012: So where exactly does one purchase a yard bag, and sticker for curbside disposal of yellow cake produced in your garage reactor? I love it!
  • A reply on Conversation: Would you dare to bare your soul to a stranger?

Mar 22 2012: Now this is the kind of attitude I would expect from most of the Ted community! People are afraid of the unknown for sure, but the more you challenge your own boundaries the less scary it seems every time.

Bravo Deniz! And also very contextually appropriate to boot!
  • A reply on Conversation: Would you dare to bare your soul to a stranger?

Mar 22 2012: This is excellent! Inspiration always sneaks up on me in the strangest of places. For me I am always in the shower when something comes to me. Unfortunately a pen and paper never work out in the shower!
  • A reply on Conversation: Would you dare to bare your soul to a stranger?

Mar 22 2012: I am not sure what you are suggesting here. If you are not comfortable putting your personal diary on display I would suggest that you keep it private. I find it close minded to suggest that divulging something that is personal by any method should be cheapened by your distinction of daring.

If humanity was to never "dare bare your soul here and now" then this world would never have made it out of the stone age! Everyone's perspective on what is personal is different, but when you see a piece of art that captures you remember that it was created by a process that is deeply personal to that artist. Giving it to the world IS a hard thing to do, and should be commended.
  • A reply on Conversation: Would you dare to bare your soul to a stranger?

Mar 22 2012: I see your perspective, but I think Ted is a place that celebrates things like being daring and open minded about new ideas. Being daring is not simply a game for some, and sharing something that makes you feel vulnerable is not for everyone. I like to see how others can relate to something Ive written on a personal level even though it might have nothing to do with my reasons for creating it.

We should all step outside our comfort zone every once in a while, and experience the world of possibility that remains to be discovered!
