A comment on Conversation: Is capitalism sustainable?

Feb 28 2013: Your question ignores the fact that the "economic pie" is not a finite amount but rather an infinite size. As a capitalist economy grows, so does the size of the whole economic pie. Therefore if the "rich" get richer, then so should everyone else.

I will cede the argument that this has not happened in the US. I believe that this is due in large part to inadequate (and unequal) education structures that overly favor the most fortunate. However, I do not believe that the current disparity shows a failure in the capitalist economic structure. Rather I believe it demonstrates that in order for capitalism to sustain itself over the long run leaders must also be aware of educational and other relevant societal issues that may affect its ultimate form.

A reply on Talk: Peter Diamandis: Abundance is our future

Mar 1 2012: What really needs to happen is a fundamental shit in the way we do business- and I believe that we are seeing that take place as new entrepreneurs go out into the world. Clearly there are companies out there that succeed through exploitation but I believe that's a reflection of the past and its inaccurate "common knowledge". New businesses succeed today because they realize the importance of the positive footprint they leave behind. Corporations that understand this will have staying power (Coca-Cola investing those water filters is simply incredible) whereas the ones that don't will inevitably fall by the wayside.

A reply on Talk: Kevin Allocca: Why videos go viral

Feb 29 2012: He is talking to a bunch of kids and trying to relate to them- that's why he uses "meme" videos. People seem to forget about that bike video, which I'm sure had a significant impact. As for "Great works of Art" or "creative outpourings", YouTube is by no means short of those.
How about this Ukranian Sand Artist?

Or this guy who has some serious spray painting skills

People come to YouTube for different reasons. It's illogical to think that they should come to only gain intellectual stimulation- laughter and enjoying the unimportant are just as critical to our well-being as thought-provoking materials.
