Mar 5 2012: Please forgive me for my impertinent reply, Arthur...but to ask "where is the science behind all this doom and gloom?" is an utterly ridiculous statement. Are you really that incapable of connecting your own dots in this world?
Thank you for your talk, Paul. Yes, I found it oddly motivating while, at the same time, sad because we're just not going to get it until a lot of hurt comes our way.
Jan 26 2012: I suspect his "sales pitch" style is more a result of giving this presentation many a time to potential funding sources with varying levels of technical knowledge - still great to see NASA working on this issue.
Jan 25 2012: Wow - one of the most inspiring TED talks I've ever viewed. Thank you for your courage, Dr. Goldman.
I wish such a system as described by Dr. Goldman could exist. But I am disheartened by the cold realization that it likely would never happen because, in the US medical community especially, to admit failure is to admit liability in a potential lawsuit. No hospital lawyer would ever allow one of their hospital's doctors to attend any sort of session in which mistakes are discussed. A very unfortunate situation, for sure.
Perhaps the good that can come from this most immediately is that others like me can apply his lessons to our own occupational situations?

A comment on Talk: Brian Goldman: Doctors make mistakes. Can we talk about that?
