Jan 9 2012: Thanks, Seth. I have six kids, only my daughter is interested at this point. I am already on the ballot, all the papers have been filed, but I have to win the nomination of my party in March. I'm running as a Libertarian for Ron Paul's seat in Texas. I don't have my heart set on being a Congresswoman, but I do know I would be better than the other guys running! Except maybe Nick Lampson who lives in my neighborhood. He has already been a US Rep, and is running again, and he is a good person.
Jan 9 2012: Thank you, Russell! I can instantly think of a traffic tangle, I was just telling my husband how it could be easily solved. I can't afford a professional staff, and besides, they end up making everyone look exactly the same. I looked at tons of congressional candidate's sites and they all look the same. I need to concentrate on volunteers, I like that idea!
Jan 9 2012: Wow, thanks, Megan? You are in Clear Lake? I like your ideas. I already said I am not taking donations. I have tried to look at as many other candidate's websites as possible, and it gets to be ridiculous, because they all say "Please Donate!" Then if you get on their mailing list, it's "Please Donate." If it's just a race to see who can raise the most money, then regular people don't stand a chance. (Like I didn't already know that!)
Jan 9 2012: Red, Blue, or Transparent, I like that! I am totally transparent. I am socially very liberal and fiscally conservative, but I don't want to throw out every social program like some people. I did promise not to take any perks from lobbyists, or any promises of future perks from anyone.
Jan 9 2012: When we stop denying that there are truly needy people. The Republicans want us to think that nobody really needs help, they are just lazy and don't want to work. Yes, there are people who can work but would rather collect unemployment, and we should definitely do something about that. But there will always be people who cannot care for themselves, and we need to decide if we want to put them on the street to beg as they do in many countries, or do we want to take care of them in a humane way, as a compassionate society. By the way, Socialism is a system that puts a limit on how much money you can make, and how much you can excel and succeed. Taking care of the most unfortunate members of a society is not Socialism.
