Dec 17 2011: Diversification of income streams, in that there is not a single community wide source of employment. Provide community radio to areas where travel is difficult, to assist the spread of ideas and innovation in endeavours such as agriculture, animal husbandry, light industry etc.. This can also be useful in education for young and old. Rewarding innovation as well, providing recognition for better/smarter ways to achieve outcomes. Finally, listen to the old folk, often they have encountered the same issues and overcame them. No point reinventing the wheel.
Dec 17 2011: It's simple really. Talk about the afflictions and diseases openly, create understanding and acceptance. Bring it into the mainstream, because people are kidding themselves if they say their lives aren't or haven't been touched by some form of mental illness. By raising awareness in the community of the existence of mental illness, we pave the way for understanding the challenges faced by the afflicted, and ease some of their burden in life.
Dec 17 2011: Favourite word is Constantinople. Say it out loud in a crowd, people will turn to look at who said that really cool word. Or, it's what I tell myself they are looking at....
