A comment on Conversation: What is your Six Word Story (http://www.sixwordstories.net/) as a result of watching this TED?

May 7 2013: Our beliefs are not 'our' beliefs.
  • A comment on Conversation: History tends to repeat itself. Empires rise and fall in a vicious circle of greed, tribal thinking, prejudice, misunderstandings and envy.

May 7 2013: First of all, Id like to start questioning the definition of 'facts.' Do you honestly believe that an ordinary human being has access to facts or is he/she being manipulated by the press, the media, the government most of the times? Things that we perceive as being facts might simple be mere fiction. Albeit the manipulation is not as loud as it had been in previous times but it continues to exist, which was clearly demonstrated by the Wikileaks scandal that had occurred. Furthermore, there isn't a direct empire anymore... there aren't direct colonies. However, there are nations in the world that dominate.. that have formed several alliances. And that the nations who do not join the alliances are considered as being direct threats. The falling of empires such as the European Union was clearly demonstrated during the recession where history did repeat itself. Several developing nations such as China now continue to rise. Thus, there definitely has been a shift in power over the former years
  • A comment on Conversation: Does Technology destroy our relationship with Nature?

May 7 2013: Initially, the reason we began to unitize technology is so that we can enhance our surroundings, rather than cause any sort of destruction to it. Nonetheless, the bias that technology holds an upper hand to nature is what caused the destruction. It lead to humans to undermine nature and its contents. Technology caused humans beings to develop the perception that we are a superior race rather than attempt to live in a harmonious manner with our surroundings and nature. Therefore, the developments in technology have gradually turned us into self centered and arrogant beings.
therefore, the developments in technology have destroyed our relationship with nature
  • A reply on Conversation: Is it really possible to eliminate poverty around the world? or is it just an utopia?

Jun 29 2012: Hi Claudia. I do agree with you. Nonetheless, one cannot deny the fact that poverty has been proportional to the rise of population within society. Albeit poverty did exist within the middle ages, the stats were not what they stand as today.the governments today have successfully implemented several laws and thus would hold the capacity to implement a law to decrease the population growth. China;s government was successfully able to decrease its population growth and increase the standards of living without falling into a dictatorship. Unfortunately, the uprising within the Middle East, coupled with the uprising tensions due to the financial crisis have lead to increased levels of instability. Alliance systems do continue to exist, coupled with problems between individual nations. In the past few years, none of the nations have had the opportunity to get rid of the aggression and the problems continue to boil up. Unfortunately , the prelims will explode, lead to war , which would be during our lifecycle.

  • A comment on Conversation: What do you think is the most effective way how to learn something and not get bored so easily ?

Jun 29 2012: By making sure that you are interested in what you are learning, To provide yourself with some sought of a motivation to reach your goal
  • A comment on Conversation: Is it best to give your honest opinion all the time?

Jun 29 2012: My experience has taught me that often giving an honest opinion tends to worsen a situation, rather than rectify something. It results in more tears being shed and unhappiness. We often do need to take a person's emotions into consideration. The ' I am not rude, just honest' attitude can be very hurtful at certain points and completely shatter them.
  • A comment on Conversation: A perfect world. Possible or Impossible?

Jun 29 2012: Absolutely impossible. Poverty, hunger, political conflicts, tension, the financial crisis, the recession have only augmented the instability within society.

A comment on Conversation: Is helping others a moral obligation?

Jun 29 2012: I believe that the definition of 'moral obligation' would differ from person to person, depending on their upbringing and their personal value systems. Thus, perhaps my definition of a moral obligation would be to help anyone in need, person X's could be to help him family in need and person Y's would be to only help himself in need. In the fast paced world we live today, the highly competitive surroundings have made us very selfish. Nonetheless, is this selfish attitude a necessity for survival ? Isn't it necessary to be selfish in order to live up to your aspirations, in order to ensure that people do not take advantage of you? Albeit I provide a highly pessimistic insight, I believe it to be true. On the contrary, helping some one would always involve on us giving up on something and this would portray strength.
  • A comment on Conversation: The biggest threat to mankind. What will end the world as we know ?

Jun 29 2012: The boggiest threat to mankind is mankind themselves. Mankind, as history has explicitly stated has been responsible for the disastrous damage caused to the planet, coupled with their own brothers and sisters. Unfortunately, mankind threatens its own survival
