What motivates you?
It's just my own way. My today is the result of what I planned yesterday, 3 months ago, 10 years ago. I do not live on a schedule, not at all, but I plan every IMPORTANT aspect of my future life. I live in the NOW as well, probably more consciously than others and I try to exploit every day of my life because I never know exactly what will happed until ... tomorrow. Shit happens all the time. So far I managed quite good - projecting my own future AND beeing pragmatic worked out well, for me at least. On the other hand, we live very interesting times, speed of our lifes is accelerating, the amount of available information is growing exponentially every second - therefore future is not so far away anymore and exploiting information makes things easier to figure out. Why it motivates me? Because I am part of my future, I guess the most important. I am 45, midlife crisis past already, career and money is not that important anymore. What is important now is how I am going to make people aroung me happy, how to be a good person. (And where will I spend my few hundred week-ends left, how and where will I spend my 30 vacations left - I am not shure that I will be willing, healthy and able to finance them when I will be 75...) And most important, my kid entering adolescent life. And observing that a lot of what was important for us is not sustainable or desirable anymore. Therefore, the expectance of things to come and things to happen motivates me big time. I realise that I would need much more than a few thousand clicks to explain the very complex issue that future means to me but I hope I made myself clear why my future i s important to me.

How would YOU shape the education system if you would have the chance?
I would like to Scott. Can you point me a source for this? I wasn't able to find a relevant source over www. What you say is another big concern - I actively observe the trend for education and indeed, things are going apparently the wrong way. Not only backwards, like you show, but in completely wrong directions.....

How would YOU shape the education system if you would have the chance?
To David Hamilton - Wow! I could go for that, with some major adjustments, but the part where teaching goes over broadcasting has it's charms. Only, good teaching is a interactive action, at least a dialog is required, equipments to experiment or exemplify are required, and so on. On the part with home schooling, that's what bothers me. How many people do YOU know and think are capable to school their (one or more) kids. And I talk about teaching abilities, knowledge itself, time, pacience or authority and charisma. There are some who can but I believe this is a tiny minority, all others just can't. Education goes over the years, imagine yourself having to do it for your - let say - three children, different ages, day by day, for years to come. I can't. That's why "teacher" is a profession, not just like other professions but one for very skilled individuals (should at least). The problem is where to find that amount of skilled teachers, how to shape a system which has s sense - this one is a waste of time for everybody - and how to enhance teaching methods.

Are creativity and leadership overrated?
Leaders are and will be the tiny minority. Beeing a leader is a talent, you're born a leader..... or not. That doesn't mean everybody else is a loser. This doesn't mean either that ALL leaders are intelligent, creative or goodwilling .... looking around I would say it's the opposite. This world depending on millions who do things over and over again ... well, what if we would have millions and millions of creative accountants, repairmen, farmers ans so on? Probably chaos, but who really knows? I believe creativity is a skill that can be developed and a way of live. A creative person does what? Creates? What's wrong with that? Getting back to you - What if ALL our leaders would lack creativity, doing just their jobs because the rewards a r e significant? Whose contribution to humanity is most important - creators or leaders, or followers? From where I stand, it is obvious - everybody has it's role but creativity is king.

How would YOU shape the education system if you would have the chance?
Thank you Thomas. Where I live, there is no home-schooling, it-s against the law. There isn't a variety of subsystems either - it's a system and it is just wrong. But that's not the problem, from what I found out sorting information over the internet, there is no perfect or even good education system. It is impossible to assume that everybody is able to school its kids at home, thousands of reasons. What annoys me is that we pay taxes, education is build on this taxes and NOBODY asks us how to shape education. Ok, this is not a perfect world, but I can't live with that excuse..... It's not about me or you, it's about the future of already 7 billion humans, and counting.
