Nov 22 2011: If you didn't notice, the movements were horribly small. Since this robot can always take a more direct route to it's target without having to waste energy turning, it is far more efficient. And since it can control itself so accurately, it would be possible to have the robot calculate distance to the nearest charger, and at a certain percent of battery life remaining steer itself back to that charger, and possibly even plug itself in to charge. In that sense these robots would be near completely autonomous for normal operation.
Nov 14 2011: I'd like an option to plug into the matrix. I want to be able to explore a digital world while feeling like I'm within my own body, using my senses to explore. I know this is a huge feat, but I know scientists are beginning to decode our brain chemistry to understand how our brain processes images, so intercepting nerve signals and replacing visual ones could be a start, but it's a long way out.
