About Me

I'm a musicologist/annotator/critic/copyeditor, published at any given time in approximately 75-100 running technical and cultural publications. I occasionally sideline in related fields and have worked as an events and culture reporter and restaurant critic for Restaurant Row (nationally) and NYC Pulse (locally). I've had some poetry published in the last two years only. In early 2006 I was included in Who's Who in American Women and Who's Who in Education in America.

I've lived for nearly two decades (off and on) in midtown Manhattan. I work as a musicologist and collect antique musical instruments as a hobby. My small music business is based in both New York and New Jersey, where we create program and liner notes for music presentors as well as repertoire planning and audience development strategies.

What IS a *musicologist,* anyway?

Not a textbook definition, but this generally includes writing about the history of classical music as it applies to performance practice. If you're presenting a largescale music recital or producing a mass-marketed CD, I might just be working for you now.

My early career as a concert musician began in the 1970's with youthful performances around the US and Canada, with a primary large audience at the Capital Rotunda in Washington DC at a celebratory festival concert for the 1976 US Bicentennial. I attended Wittenberg University (sacred music) where I studied conducting and orchestration with John Williams and Ian Polster, New York University for humanities, and the Mannes College of Music (MM classical performance and theory), where I studied with Robert Secrist, Frederic Hand, Charles Kaufman, Julius Levine, Yakov Kreizberg, Leo Edwards and Marie Powers.

The year 2007 marked my return to the world of active public performance. After a long, though intentional hiatus, I essentially reversed my decision on this and am presently in a locked practice room working this all out. I anticipate being able to accept bookings ( thank you for the current offers, but no thank you just for right now) by the Spring of 2009. My website will eventually provide booking links, uploadable publicity materials and a performance calendar.
