Nov 6 2011: I like your idea of becoming a global citizen through a platform like TED. I myself have not traveled a lot in the world. But i believe it is not only by travelling around that you can broaden your perspectives and become more globalized. Indeed there is no better way than actually experiencing the different parts of the world, but even virtual experience helps a lot.

You can get to know all the different views and ways of others and can get to know a lot about them. So yeah I think the various TED talks have what it takes to change our mindset, broaden our thinking, and help us come closer to what we call, 'a global citizen'.

A comment on Conversation: What is the most popular festival/carnival in your town or country ?

Nov 5 2011: I am from Pakistan and perhaps the most celebrated festival here is Eid. This festival is a celebration of the ending of the month of Ramadan during which all Muslims fast and stretches over three days.

This is one of the few days when everyone forgets racism, and all other types of discrimination and is in the mood of celebration :)

The basic concept of this festival is for everyone to forget worldly vendettas and to come together and celebrate their existence and thank God for every blessing. We usually go to meet our relatives, friends and other people. Before Eid we give the poor new clothes and stuff so all of us can equally celebrate and share the happiness.

Perhaps the best part of the Eid for us is the concept of 'Eidee'. This is some amount of money that adults give to their own and other children. Children consider this their right and it is quite fun convincing adults to give them more Eidee. The adults equally enjoy when children pursue collecting the most eidee :p

We have grand parties at relatives and friends and we give presents to each others. So personally I think this is the best festival in Pakistan where there is so much fun in it! :)
