About Ignas

An idea worth spreading

The stone age ended not because humans ran out of stones. Oil age is not going to end because we will run out of oil. It's not the biggest giants like Exxon, BP who will lead the change. It's the scientists somewhere in a lab, I believe, in developing country, will invent/discover new technology that will save the world.

I'm passionate about

Sustainable living. New sustainable technology. Engineering. World wars. Politics. Everything really that is thought provoking.

Susan Cain: The power of introverts
The situations that Susan described I found to be very accurate to what I feel, how I behave and the difficulties I face due to my introvert nature. I could not help but feel empathetic towards her. She did an amazing job of inspiring introverts through this talk as well as her book.

What if all Formula 1 cars were required to run off of electricity rather than traditional fuel?
Hi Ian, To my knowledge, electric formula 1 cars would not be as fast as standard fossil fuel powered ones. Electric batteries would increase the weight of the car dramatically making it difficult to corner. Electric batteries would not last for 2 hour race (not even 30 minutes, I believe). When the battery runs out, it requires somewhat like 24 hours to change it back up. It is a great concept and I do agree with the idea that formula 1 should be driving innovation in moto engineering. I hope electric formula 1 cars will come in the future.

Chip Kidd: Designing books is no laughing matter. OK, it is.
To be honest, I do think that book cover is a very important part of the book. These days there are so many books around and simply not enough time to read them all. When I want to buy a book, I usually ask my friends for advice on which book to get or I just keep buying the books of the same author that I have been reading for ages! Otherwise, I simply cannot choose one, when I am in the book-shop. There are so many books there and reading the back of them just doesn't cut for me. I guess what I am trying to say is that a much more informative and creative book cover design would definitely help me to choose the book. Cheers for doing a great job!

Malcolm Gladwell: The strange tale of the Norden bombsight
I think Malcolm's spaghetti sauce talk was far better. It was straight to the point and it actually introduced valid conclusions. This talk is a mess in my opinion. He touches so many moral and ethical topics when talking about wars as well as inventing Norden. I think a lot of people miss the actuall point in this messy of a talk and I did as well. I will thank Ms. Cote who so nicely summed up his not-so-obvious ideas in.a few comments below. Other than that it was great to hear Malcolm tell a great story again. I will be re-watching and discussing this for a long time. Thank you!
