Rory Stewart: Time to end the war in Afghanistan
Excellent presentation, facts, figures and ground realities discussed by Rory. His ennobling discovery enables me to comment on his presentation. I have come up with two points; these may seem quixotic one but a cruel reality. I am quite agreeing with the ideas to leave Afghanistan NOW. Due to massive involvement and investment in cold war within recent decades, US economy is turning down in vertical direction. However, output is a big question mark. Now, I think ... comes to is this: US still have sovereignty. It has to pay attention to sustain sovereignty and welfare of its own regime rather than spending billions of dollars across the boundaries. It is time to spend within the boundary, tackle internal affairs, rationalized its economic policy. The median income of Americans today is lower than it was a decade and a half ago; and the median income of a full-time male worker is lower than it was more than four decades ago. Meanwhile, those at the top have never had it so good. US will have to make a choice: if it perpetuates as it has in recent decades, the lack of opportunity will mean a more divided society, marked by lower growth and higher social, political and economic instability. Or it can recognise that the economy has lost its balance. The gilded age led to the progressive era, the excesses of the Roaring Twenties led to the Depression, which in turn led to the New Deal. Each time, the country saw the extremes to which it was going and pulled back. Now question is, will it do so once again? Thank you !

Looking to become a future TED speaker. Many questions!
I think, it will be one of the grand opportunity that you can undertake in TED as a speaker or guest. Just believe on yourself and your Idea. Yeah! Of course, help on brainstorming is necessary to seize multiple Ideas but in fact it leads you to become double minded. So, you need to take care of the adequate quality so that you can get benefit out of this. Wish you BOL :) Regards, Waseem Hafeez

What are you happy for this past year?
This year 2011 has been a tumultuous one for my country Pakistan. Political instability, economic crisis, cold war situation in north-west Pakistan are the situations seems not to have much too happy about. But after all, I take this opportunity to wish you and your loved ones a wonderful NY. I pray it will be a safe one and I also pray that we are able to take on the challenges in our work, in our country and in our personal lives that we will be faced with in 2012. “I am ever confident that we will” With sincere gratitude  Waseem Hafeez
