Mar 25 2013: It used to be the role of the central bank to create money, but today it is no longer so. Every commercial bank can, and in fact does, create money in quantities far exceeding their deposits. The result is that there is much much more money circulating in the economy than what the CB create.
To understand the whole process I strongly recommend the book by Jesus Huerta de Soto "Money, Bank Credit, and Economic Cycles".
Mar 22 2013: If you ask me I think that marriage should be as cheap and as accessible as possible. Would that incease the already high divorce rate? Maybe, but chances are that it would have the opposite effect. Such step could bring the responsibility back to marriage i.e. it would no longer be a piece of paper holding everything together but a real promise between two people.
People depend too much on formal documents, signatures, courts, offices and institutions these days. They make life easier but they take away the individual responsibility from the people. At the end of the day, it does not matter what institutions we have but who we really are.
The goal is to have a gun but refrain from using it.
Mar 18 2013: Not at all. Destiny is the privilege of only a few people: those who have a definite individual life line. The lives of most people are so intermingled with others - so little individual - that they can only have a Massenschicksal, which in each particular case is just fate.
