Dec 12 2012: I prune and take down big trees and one of my favorite parts of the job is being able to look down on Turkey Vultures as they glide through the hills. They really are beautiful birds. I'm glad to see I'm not the only one who thinks so.
Dec 15 2011: The principle concept of capitalism is that you don't need to own the capital to leverage it...in fact it is better to leverage other peoples capital. Why would any one want to own the ocean or the air when you can extract all of the profit you want from fishing or dumping without needing to own it.
Dec 15 2011: What you are describing is permaculture. There are methods to restore or prevent desertification. There are methods to prevent and repair erosion, to recharge aquifers with trees and earthworks. Abused desert can be made healthy again with soil imprinters and clay/compost seed balls. You can dramatically increase soil depth with proper livestock management. It isn't a lack of technology or of resources it is a lack of political will and a lack of proven profitable business models...but I'm working on it. :)
