Jan 6 2012: I loved this talk!! All of it... the summaries, the work, the figure$, Wernicke and his accent! Thanks!! I think summaries are great, but I enjoy every single presentation whenever I have time to watch them
Nov 28 2011: Bravo Amy!!!
I always say that there is a good and a bad side to every story, no matter how big or small the situation is... we can choose to just look at the negative/sad/difficult parts of every event in our lives, and likely make things worse for ourselves; but wouldn't it be much better for all if we learn from that side, and also look at -strive to find that other side-- the good one too? We may not be able to see the good during a tough time, but at least we can begin by thinking that this is a learning experience --and learning is good! really good!-- and that all these difficulties of life make us stronger and better people...it may not be easy, but it is a new beginning... learning is a great gift in itself.
Nov 11 2011: There is always people that are, for one reason or another, "sour"; they seem to be unable to see the fun and good of any acts; they take every opportunity to complain about things, as it is mentioned in this video "people have to much time on their hands".. NOOOO! People CHOOSE to give others a moment of happiness using their own time, it doesn't mean that they have nothing else to do, they just choose doing one thing over another, one positive thing which benefits everyone, a smile on someone else is a gift you give & get!.... I am grateful for that and I am all for it! THANKS.
Nov 10 2011: Thanks for posting this, I have sign the chapter and I don't think it pushes religion at all, you don't have to belong to any religion to understand that we all need compassion in this world, to share, to give and to get. It mentions religion as much as ethical and spiritual traditions, one can have the 2 later without being a religious person. Its aaaaaallll good ;)
Nov 3 2011: True, true... why can't people stay on the subject? And yes, in general, on this and any other talk, seems that there is a tendency to initiate other little topics out of the main one... why can one just start a different conversation and continue focusing on the main topic? please! See? Like now for example, I haven't said anything about A.Elahi's talk! So I will: As I see it, this is just another way of discrimination, of course this is much-bigger than the discrimination one goes through at a store or over a phone call, but in the name of National Security I think most of us are willing to endure some of this unfairness, it'd be nice if some common sense would be part of training when it comes to security screens(screeners/sp?) -then again, that's just wishful thinking-- seems to me that those of us who have more of a foreign look or accent, are subject to more security screening, to more discrimination and simply are more vulnerable to be mistreated.
Nov 3 2011: It is not whether I believe or not in universal beauty, I could just say that I do, but it will still be MY point of view. I just believe that our perception of beauty is individual, it is based on the knowledge we have of what we qualify as beautiful; for example one may totally dislike snow, because of the associated cold temperature, or because it aggravates their health issues, so they don't necessarily find it beautiful anymore; I may find it absolutely beautiful simply because it looks clean when it falls or because I know that I will be hearing cheers from children.
So, again, I think that beauty is perceived based on one's knowledge of the subject matter, no matter what it is, it can be anything, art, books, reading, moments in time, food, religion, technology, etc... it is all about individual perception, experience and knowledge.
Oct 29 2011: Traveling is learning for me. I love the part where you learn about other cultures, more than the history. I've been in many countries in the different continents. My favorite place is the country sides of Viet Nam, I love the way people live and care for others, they are mostly of low income (if any) but they are kind and loving, and they keep no resentment against those who have harm them (or their families), I am quiet impressed with the kindness of their hearts and how they are able to find happyness in their days, no matter how difficult they may be; so, said all these, traveling enables me to appreciate other people's qualities and learn from them. Just for the record, I do want to live in the outskirts of Italy, and I also love NY & Paris (no wonder I have one kid that wants to live in NYC and another in the mountains of VA)
