There is a cost of everything, including education. The better question would be how do we raise the capital to educate the children? We can pass all the laws we desire, but, as the example of "No child left behind" has shown, the only way it seems that we do not leave "no child left behind" is by holding back others.
Then the question remains: Who determines what the "education" is? The example of Kansas and Texas from the past few years of trying to pass off Intelligent Design as equal to Evolution should be a scary example of what happens when people decide what is science...
Oct 10 2011: Hmmm... I would argue that because there are more people with more ways of instant communicating, we are just a bit more "aware" of daredevils. There has always been the few (Amelia Earhart for example) that constantly push the envelope.
