How do creative and critical thinking interact in the classroom?
It’s good 2 get views on Ur Assignments in TEDX.But if it turns in2 copy-Paste; that’s whn the problem starts and creativity ends. It destroys the very essence of the question asked. I always believe there is no particular way that help U becom success. I know there are books that teach U how; but it is just their experienc of gettin success not necessarily it works 4 U. U know the rules of the game just apply Ur own plan. Now that’s creativity. Just an example: I want 2 remove all the empty soap packages that get 2 the end of the manufacturing unit. Rules: Good ones should not be harmed. Aim: Be cost effective, Less Labor, quality result. I can go all the way 2 put up an x-ray machine 2 scan and then creatin a mechanical arm that removs all the empty packages. OR I can do the same thing by placing a fan across the end 2 blow away the empty packages. What I am tryin 2 say is there is no particular way U can solve Ur problems. It’s Ur creativity that can provide U new ways 2 solve the same problm. And I feel young brains can answr ths much better then expernce guys; because experience guys have already read of certain ways 2 tackle situations and so they generally apply those rather thinkin about new ones. But whn U don’t know a particular answer U try 2 find a new one instead of applyin an old one. Just an example was whn I askd som of my friends "Why Are manholes made circular? Most of thm replied becaus it is easy 2 transport and U can roll them and most of thm had read the answer be4 so they didn’t even think what could be the answer. While trying 2 find a new answer I got someone who had never been asked this question and he thought 4 a long time and said Its because diagonally they are symmetric so the lid wud not fall in and if were rectangle they could have fallen in as diagonally the length is more than the sides. I am sure this answer too must have been written somewhere but my point is whn U don’t know an answr it’s much easier 2 com up with a new answr.

What makes a good conversation? What draws you in and engages you? Let's build TED-capacity by sharing what we're learning with each other.
Do you read conversations but never comment? Why not? The general reason i feel most ppl dont comment iswhen the answer to any of below question is "YES" and you start asking yourself the same questions. "Would my opinion mean anything?Am I making any sense?Would I embarrase myself by commenting? What can you say to encourage those sitting on the sidelines? Or to those who don't think they have the right thing to say? 1.The first thing I would like to say here is I have seen (although little but still) People making fun mockery about others views. I think that is one of the main reason if someone feels not to share his view especially if it’s against most of the people's opinion. 2. Can encourage Youngsters to participate more if possible via media and talking about things that usually a teenager can connect to. For instance why they like to spend time in virtual world rather than real world. Which I think is already a Topic in TEDX. But extending that topics to Face book and Tweeter where usually you would find teenagers this days and attracting them to Contribute in TEDX.Like a application of game in facebook.. Very hard but not impossible to attract youngsters. 3.I would like to tell all who feel like commenting but stop themselves thinking it might be not good enough is" The question is not whether your comments are good enough or not .It's whether others are good enough to understand it and contribute constructively to what you have to say. So it really does not matter if it sounds right or not; just go ahead and have a say. Your time on earth is limited so make it count not let embarrassment take the better of out you.

What makes a good conversation? What draws you in and engages you? Let's build TED-capacity by sharing what we're learning with each other.
What draws you in and engages you? 1.I might have experienced the same.So instantly feel connected to a point made by someone else based on my prior experience. You feel like "Oh ye"s thats so true but no one actually realized it or pointed it out before that. 2.Comment that is just opposite to what I have experienced in my personal life.I feel like knowin what the person might have experienced to feel that way. 3,Replies from other TEDster's do help to keep you active. You feel someone is listening. 4.Area of Interest. Topics Like gamming, teaching,Clutural difference, difference of bringing up in various countries n so on, What makes a good conversation? At the end of the day if you feel content, satisfied and learn something new,Even if its humility i feel like its one of the best conversations I had. Outside Tedx, the best conversation I had was with my long lost school friend. We hardly spoke for 5 minutes but felt like the best conversation I had with anyone for ages. Learnin from TED's. Other's points and opinions are as vauable as u feel yours; even when you feel they are wrong.I strongly belive we comment not on what is right but rather what we have experienced.Becuse ppl come from different race and bringing up; they might have experienced differently. So while they are commenting they are actually sharing their personal experience with you which might help us much more when we move to their place and culture and relate it much better.

We can learn by exchanging and discussing our own lists of "10 Things I Know to be True."
Hey Lise, Nice thoughts,Bt i too Agree With GIUSI somewhat ,You are although right cause of the selection of words. Point6:When people say "no," it's usually out of fear. (usually very rihtly used .. :)) Might be true for yes. When people say "YES," it's usually out of fear. 90% of the times I don't think it would be fear for which I say "NO". I normally say "YES" because of fear of hurting someone and "NO" only if I am sure I cannot afford it or otherwise.I feel PPL find it difficult to say "NO" mostly of the fear of hurting someone.Somewhat opposite to what you have said. But yes you are right in your own way. Point 10 : I actualy do belive in worst case scenarios and preparing for it. But yes after reading your reply I kind of get it what you wanted to tell.It was more of like "People are reluctant or back out to do something because of the fear of the worse" which generally happens. 5th and 8th are really good points.

We can learn by exchanging and discussing our own lists of "10 Things I Know to be True."
10 chapters Of my life that i have learnt through my experience.Hope its useful. Chapter 1: Enjoy Enjoy playing a game and more are your chances to win it. This holds true to the biggest game that you would ever play that’s life. Play well. Chapter 2: Powers of Brain Brain is the most powerful Tool, very hard for a man to understand. Time Travel, Isolation, Moving outside your body, healing without any treatment is possible if you know how to use it. Very less is known about it. So use it well. Chapter 3: Positive Energy Use Positive energy to the best of your knowledge. Use as less Negative words you can cause this world has a knack of eating up negative words; they like it. Tell your mind "You are not going to lose this match”. More often than not you would lose the battle. I have seen it. World takes out not (negative word from it.) which leaves you with "You are going to Lose the match”. It is surprising but it really helps if you tell your brain "I am gonna win this match “Because u are thinking about winning and not loosing. It helped me big time. Hope it helps you stay positive. Chapter 4: Live each day as if you’re last Doomsday: Don’t know really if it’s true...So as it says True things. "I know someday I am gonna die so is any Living thing in this world. You have very limited time on earth. Use it well. Bunk a few classes. Fall in Love. Dance Like a fool.Dont care about embarrassment. You know no one remembers it after you are gone so experience wateva you feel like and forget about embarrassment. Japanese Proverb “ We all are fools anyways so rather dance and become what we already are. Chapter 5:Don’t be judgmental about Failures Try to learn something from your failure. Remember every failure tells you what not to do to become successful. This stands true to your outlook on your kid’s Failure. Let them fail. Don’t punish them for trying. Punish for not (Negative energy Don’t use it) trying or rather motivate (Positive energy) them to try.

Chapter 6: Duality of Life. Experience or know both. I believe in duality. Good and bad. Your deeds can make you aware of your good side. If searched and looked deeply you will find evil within yourself. If you have not found any; you have not still attained enlightenment. Or probably not faced such a situation to see it. It’s important to know both sides of yourself. Cause that’s the truth everyone has good and bad.Evil is within u if u r alive don’t believe me. Spell LIVE backwards and u wud knw what I am talking about. Chapter 7: Try Try till you succeed "Try and Fail but never fail to try" holds true for every situation you are in. There’s always hope at the other end. Just have to wait for the story to unfold. If it isn't happy then you are mistaken that to be an ending. Chapter 8: Big Difference between knowing a thin and using it. Intelligence and Knowledge are two different things. A knowledgeable person may not be intelligent. And an intelligent person may not necessarily have enough knowledge to make good use of it. Chapter 9: Antonym’s are usually connected. Hard to find the connection. Hate always has some love hidden behind it. Chapter 10: Be with yourself: Doing nothing is also big thing. Most people don’t know how to do it..  Take some time off for yourself. The biggest gift I have ever given to myself. It gives me joy which is why people around me remain happy. Joy spreads.

Just the continuation of 10th point Gravity thank God/LUCK/Energy(depending on your outlook) or Newton who found it, but if gravity wasn't on earth Newton would not be standing on it to find it..Isn't it. You all realize were I am taking this conversation into. It come backs to luck. Is it really. For humans to exist If you see our evolution you have to say we had to be very very lucky to exist. I just term it some energy that made it happen. How did it make it happen science(Logical reasoning) gives you the way. I am not saying god but some power that we feel deep inside and meditation makes us realize that power within us.

You may refute to whatever I believe but it still does not change my beliefs... :D 1. We all live in our own world. We all have our own maps of real world which is based on our personal experience, views, beliefs, values and assumptions. We act and feel based on our perception of the world rather than the real world. This gives us the license to do bad things as we don’t term it as bad. 2. Educational System is becoming more and more Business or commercial place. Most of us only care about money making. Selfishness got us following the wrong direction. 3. Value of human Life is a few 100 Dollars. People killing, people dying. I thought it was for population control. 4."Learn how to earn and you would learn how to live" is the concept and not "Learn how to live and you would learn how to earn".Buisness has taken up human values. Being smart and using others are the criteria not being right.Infact being smart is right these days. Wrong information always shown by the media. Negative images are the main criteria which is infecting the young minds faster than bacteria. Kids wanna act like what they see in the cinema. 5.I don’t know you but still you are ready to listen what I am saying. But very rarely do you have time to listen to your friends or wife or children’s. 6. Its more satisfactory to disagree someone and prove him wrong than to prove him right. Sometimes it does not even matter what you feel is right. 7. Childrens are loosing innocence faster than we think they do. 8. Technology has replaced direct communication. We remember faces of our best friends as we have seen them in Facebook. 9. We might be another person in this world but still we might be world for someone else. 10. Science And God (For me power or raw energy) are not against but with each other. Science always tells you or gives more of an explanations how it happens, If you ask me who placed it that way or why it happened there is something more to it isn't it. Gravity thank God/LUCK/Energy(depe

Why did you go to University/College?
Hey Amrut, I suppose you are 15 right. You are in 10th Standard right If I am not wrong. At this age you might be not have had the necessity to make a choice between what you like to do and what you or your parents or society thinks is good for your career or say for financial stability or growth. I saw you like Science and technoloy so might not that be hard for you as your interest and so called "Scoiety norms of education for carier building" would be same as Engineering...As IT is booming in INDIA. I know many of my friends after school were forced to join Science and Technology by their parents against their interest in Arts or say mass media. I am sure you would have some of your firends experience the same after the 10th and could share the same here? So even though all of us go to study in a college on a broader view the motive behind joining a particular college or university may differ. So question asked is valid on that part .Isn't it? Best of luck for your future Amrut. Its good to see youngsters like you in TED. In my teenage I would have never thought to join such a community.Would have wasted my time in chat rooms.Good thinking on your part.

What do you think is the main reason why contemporary kids do not like / understand opera?
"Neuro-Linguistic Programming" that strike me.i really liked the concept.Idea that with our senses we are only able to perceive a small part of the world. Our view of the world is filtered by our experience, beliefs, values, assumptions, and biological sensory systems. We act and feel based on our perception of the world rather than the real world. That is each of us individuals have our map based on which we act and think. So changing his map or model we can be able to make changes in his behaviour. As from what i have read this program is affective to change a human behaviour like alcoholic eddiction etc ..etc.Not sure if it has been tested to "Change the way a person enjoys?".I am sure it can be done If researched more or might have already been tried. But I am not really in favour of prorammin human beings to enjoy somethin..We would be generatin machines with all havin same interests and thought process and values.I have already seen people commentin in other topics that we are not free even our views and thoughts are guided by the society. We are like playing a chess were we are free to move anything but our evry move is still controlled..Programming persons for enjoyin somethin would be really traggic to see.. I Really feel stronly the topic should change to "What should Opera do that kids like it?" Its not like "how to change the taste of a person?" but "how to cook food interestingly or creatively so that most of the person like it"? Thanks a lot.Learnt something new.
