  • A comment on Conversation: Reaching out to High School students about job in STEM fields.

May 4 2013: I've been involved in several engineering classes during my time in high school and I had the opportunity to work with engineers and architects and truly understand what the schooling and accreditation is like and what the jobs can entail. The biggest problem I think is not the push for STEM careers or even getting kids interested in different careers so much as it is the problem of kids not knowing what they are truly interested in.

Oct 3 2011: Thats really quite amazing. Kind of funny to watch the geckos flap around.
  • A comment on Talk: Steve Truglia: A leap from the edge of space

Oct 3 2011: Really while it is a little egotistical at the same time he is, by doing this, making huge advancements in the technology required to design space suits. Plus this guy must have steel balls, excuse my language, to even dream of jumping out of a balloon 120,000 feet or 22 miles high. If even one thing goes wrong he could end up dead or severely injured.
  • A comment on Conversation: Do you think borrowing money from a friend can damage the friendship.Why/why not?

Oct 3 2011: If anything it depends on their personalities and how close they are as friends. Even then depending on the amount of money borrowed it could cause problems in a friendship if not paid back.

A comment on Conversation: What could high schools do to improve college readiness for their students?

Oct 3 2011: High Schools could improve critical thinking and problem solving skills. Most of the time in high school reading classes you are only looking for literary elements of a story and are hardly ever asked to look more deeply in to the story. This topic is brought forth in Francine Prose's "I Know Why the Caged Bird Can Not Read". In math you are very rarely asked to rearrange an equation to fit you need. Usually you are just given the equation. That's a problem with China's educational system. They teach them facts more than the critical thinking and problem solving skills that are so high valued.
  • A comment on Conversation: What came first? Dancing or music?

Oct 3 2011: Neither. They came at the same time. For both music and dance you have timing. Being able to keep time is a fundamental of both music and dance. Without that you can't have either in the form that we know it. Most likely in primeval times it was music.
