Oct 21 2012: Luckily the statement "He was a smoker, like most people" is still false. Of 7 billion people, roughly 1,2 billion smokes and there is no country in the world, where there would presently be more smokers than non-smokers.
Oct 19 2012: One must be really smart about how videos like this are edited. Too much of info, quotes and links on the video will get distracting and quite irritating
Oct 19 2012: He said- "one of those dots is the same on the two panels".
What he thought was- one of the colors of the dots is the same shade on both panels.
What people in the audience thought (as did I) was- on both panels there is a spot where there is a circle of the same color. Which spot is it.
So people went on comparing the dots in the same spot on both panels and since there is only one spot where there is a dot of the same color. The dots on second bottom row, second from right look roughly the same, not exactly, but you know it's a talk on optical illusion, so it's gotta be it, cause no other pair on the same spot on both panels is anywhere close to the same color.
That's why most of the people answered that the grey one was the answer.
Feb 9 2012: When I was a child my mom bought me a few books about dinosaurs. I looked at the pictures and assumed that the ceratopsids grew into each other. It seemed so obvious. But my mom said, no, those are all different, there are babies of those dinosaurs found too. I assumed she didn't assume about those babies....
Feb 4 2012: As I was watching this episode and guess who came to my mind? Doctor Gregory House! Think about this- House and his team miss-diagnose the same patient five times an episode. And we call it .. a show! Because we are supposed to believe this cannot happen in real life.
Mar 22 2011: Damn, Arlene, you stole my health freak's lines. It's ironic that there is a health category in this project. But it's good that people and not some CEOs get to decide who gets the money. Seeing the USA map so heavily featured on this clip, I get to wonder if it's truly for the world
Mar 22 2011: Well what can I say?.... That beer damages health and it's sad that TED promotes it?..... Reminds me of a clip I recently saw about mixed messages on Tv- Heatlhy cooking on one channel, McDonalds on the other. :( But you can drink, and if you don't have your health as the top value, you probably will.
Mar 22 2011: It must be meant for purely audialistic people. Luckily I'm one, so I perceive the message, but I'm afraid lots of people won't because an old man is not sexy enough to catch the eye and there is no before and after pictures of the actual ex-desert site.
