My TED Story

As a youth who loves to see other youths happy, i and my friends in Uganda formed National Youth Empowerment Network to enables us fight poverty among ourselves and other youths in our communities. We started projects such as the "Wagari"Girls Project which mean Empowering the Girl Child. Here the girls in Kakunyu village, Wakiso District are taught how to make crafts and bags out of polythene bags. The boys are taught how to make bricks and Pompey for building out of clay under the Kakunyu Brick Making Project. We have changed the perception of the youths in Bulondo village of farming as we begun the Bulondo Fishing and Piggery farming where the youths from different schools have come to be taught about fishing and piggery farming. We have planted two acres of sweet potatoes, watermelon, sugar and pumpkins as away of fighting hunger in this area and other parts of the district. I have been motivated by the way the youths have responded to outreach programs on health, finance e.t.c
