About Me

I am Alex Mero, a Philofiction novelist. This is how I defined the literary genre, which, through imaginary and fiction encourages us to identify the boundaries that define us and invites us to communicate across borders.

My stories are mainly based on literary dialogues that allow the exploration of different thought processes and which derive their sources primarily from the recognition of the multiplicity of the world.

Oct 5 2011: Wisdom is not education or knowledge itself, but it rather represents the proper functioning of our mind so that it not only knows the place of everything, but it also knows what form all things can take. Wisdom offers a broader perspective than the purely intellectual knowledge and analytical reasoning. It is more a way of perceiving things correctly than being able to define them through words and concepts.
  • A comment on Conversation: What is the future of libraries?

Oct 5 2011: It is clear that ebooks and the latest technology have completely overturned the book market. Some writers already offer their own books through the Web, usually for a charge. But the Internet is more than a showcase. The Web is also a place of exchange, a channel through which the dialogue between the author and his readers can take place without intermediaries. So we will see more and more new reader groups and communities with the same interest. The members of these networks will develop interactions, not only with the writer, but also with the other members of these virtual communities. This development probably means the disappearance of the traditional literature market, although there will always be a place for the promotion and publication market. Authors and publishers will therefore have to adapt their relations to this development. It is obvious that publishers will also use virtual tools as a communication means and adapt to the new technologies in a creative and commercial manner.

A comment on Conversation: You wake up today and you have reached the life of your dreams. What is it like ??

    Oct 5 2011: Hi Juliette,
Interesting question cause I have really reached the life of my dreams. I reached a state of higher several years ago when I started to write and I know I will never leave that state anymore. From that day I consider it as my only task to be open–minded for the arrival of the right inspiration. For me, writing is a continuous process of intuitive contemplation, evaluation and questioning. A process in which my motivation lies, in a deep longing for truth and union with the higher. I try to offer valuable alternatives to the limitation of our insight and against the extreme selfishness shown by many people. The themes that I discuss can be divided into three categories: a just mode of life in which respect is shown for all people and all cultures worldwide; a responsible behaviour that goes against the powers of a ravenous industrialization; a harmonious walk of life that is able to lead to a worldwide spiritual awareness.
  • A comment on Conversation: Conversation with Simon Lewis: How do we make the most of our Consciousness?

Sep 29 2011: A distinction must be made between what is and what we perceive. The numerous material appearances we observe are attributes of the conscience, but the conscience itself is not reserved only to humans. The conscience is much more than that. It is a universal power which penetrates through the whole reality and transcends all human attributes. The human is one of the many manifestations of the conscience, just like everything that surrounds it, although a human is a special manifestation because it has thinking capacities. Thinking is a specific development of the conscience, valuable and useful without doubt, but it is also extremely one–sided and possibly dangerous, because it has the tendency to develop its own theories and to isolate itself from the real conscience. Man isn’t privileged just because it is the only being aware of reality, but in the fact it is privileged thanks to its potential of reflection, able to reach the consciousness from which everything emanates.

Sep 28 2011: Music is a message. The dancer is a messenger.
  • A comment on Conversation: Change Through Imagination and Fiction: we need to communicate our ideas & visions to make them real.

Sep 28 2011: Philofiction is a genre that merges philosophy and literature and is also a good example of how we can use imagination and fiction to communicate our visions in order to foster change. A philosophical text should be an unbiased reflection on all things. The text should not contain imagination and fictitious elements. This means that no characters may be created and no events may be imagined. Contrary to that, the literary text should only apply as a product of the imagination and feelings. This means that fictitious elements, events and imagined characters may be created here. Let us now pay attention to the difference the public makes between philosophers and writers. Philosophers are known for their usually unintelligible jargon and for reasoning that most people cannot follow. Literature writers are seen more as artists, creative souls who do not really belong in the academic world. But what exactly is the difference between philosophy and literature? Is it the difference between a philosopher and a writer? A writer can have more things in common with a philosopher than with another writer. Isn’t it then the case that the individual differences are greater than the differences between those two categories? And how can we describe philofiction? A literary genre that brings together philosophy and literature by blurring the borders between intelligence and feeling with the objective of making the reader know no boundaries. Philofiction dialogues describe events and meetings between part real, part literary created characters, who reason and interpret but also clarify or contradict all kinds of thoughts and statements and in this way enable the reader to deepen its knowledge. Philofiction does indeed appeal to the intellect and the imagination simultaneously and therefore it is no different from the manner in which each of us experiences life.

A reply on Conversation: What place does creativity have in education?

Sep 28 2011: Creativity, in its basic understanding, is comparable to the birth of a newborn. True creation is the emergence of something entirely new in the physical and material dimension that we perceive. It can not be solely the result of logical reasoning. Creativity can take place only upon a penetrating vision of something that was previously unknown. It requires an intuitive ability that enables a leap in the field of mystery before integrating it into the domain of the known.
