  • A comment on Conversation: What is Power?

Sep 1 2011: Power is power over others and power over yourself.
Power over others is the ability or possibility to make others act as you would like or do whatever you would like.
Power over oneself is the ability to do whatever you would like without allowing being influenced by others.
Exercising both kinds of power is difficult. But maybe exercising power over yourslef is the more difficult one. As you should be able to overcome lots of inner restraints - such as fears, prejudice, outer expectations ... and have the ability to form your own opinion and make your own decision given the circumstances.

A comment on Conversation: Could the answer to our happiness be found in NO expectations?

Sep 1 2011: And what about expectation for reaching your goals? How would I put efforts into something if I do not expect to be successful?
Expectations themsleves do not lead to disappointment. It is over-expectations that are usually not met and lead to some kind of frustration or disappointment. Maybe the really hard part is finding the line between reasonable expectation, hope and expecting too much of a situation or circumstances.
