  • A comment on Talk: T. Boone Pickens: Let's transform energy -- with natural gas

Mar 29 2012: Solar and wind are better long term solutions to the issue. But the infrastructure is going to take years to put into place. Natural gas can help us reduce our emissions now. Just because an idea is not perfect does not mean you should toss it out.

For example just because I cannot afford to equip my house with solar panels, grow my own food, and live off the grid does not mean that I should make steps towards a more sustainable lifestyle. If most of us drove our cars less, planted a small veggie garden,and/or purchased/consumed products that are better for the earth etc. we would all be a lot better off then we are now.

I am not suggesting that we should settle for the easiest choice -- but the all or nothing attitude means that we are all going to stay in place a lot longer than we need to

Mar 29 2012: I agree with your point on his choice of words -- they are tasteless in a lot of settings, especially TED. However, this does not discredit what he has to say regarding energy. Natural gas is not a long term solution to the worlds energy issues, but its a step in the wright direction no matter where you live or who you are.
  • A comment on Conversation: What is your greatest passion and how have you been able to develop and sustain it?

Sep 1 2011: I believe the development of passion, and motives for pursuing the passion are as unique as the individual. You may want to take a look at a book entitled "Living with Passion" by David Raithby and Sandey McCartney -- it may help answer some of the questions you are asking (well at least for yourself).
