I'm an entrepreneurial soul, avid fan of unleashing ideas that can change the world for the better. Passionate about people, their empowerment and their well-being. I could tell you that I had a great time at university with many stories and degrees in business law, management & international business economics as a result.
I could tell you I lost my heart in New York when I worked in the UN when I was 23 and I grew some balls when I started my first company, a digital agency called Adforce when I was 25. I discovered what made my clock tick when I started working on Tribeforce, an intuitive software as a service product that helps people to improve their recruitment and care better for their existing team members, this to make the workplace a more productive and happy environment.
I could tell you I lost both my parents early and suddenly. Life taught me what is truly important in life.
I could tell you I live in Leuven, I love traveling, new ideas and slow food, that I know a thing or two about wine and photography or that I am the organizer of TedxLeuven.
I could tell you that I am a mentor to several web start ups and an avid fan of - God forbid - Belgium.
But who I am, in the end, is of very little importance, it is only by working together that we can achieve great things.
Life. Energy. Love. Maslow. Lennon. The science of happiness. Money and why it was invented. The multiverse. People.
Societies of today seem to have mixed up something: economy and technology is a means, not an end. People today are pressured because of this. They experience stress which causes health problems. They do not see their partner, friends or their family enough, they forget to have fun in their life, they do not have time or energy to spend the money they earn. End result? They are not happy. Is the kind of world we want to create?
We can use the mechanics of business to make communities a happier place to live in. To give business its originally intended role of helping people. Scientific research has shown what makes people - independent of race, age, gender or religion - happy. All we have to do is use economy to facilitate that process. To come to a true happonomy, a society that focuses on the creation of abundance.
The needs of humans beings. Life. The economics of happiness. Why Belgium is a really cool country. People & how talents can be fostered. Love.
Doing nothing from time to time.
TED has been my brain tickle many times for years already.
Since 2007 I'm an avid fan of the Ted talks, which first on my computer, now on the ipad are my favourite mind reset.
My TED story is simple: I like to contribute to making change happen, hence why I'm organizing TedxLeuven. Leuven to me is the greatest village on earth. Within a few square kilometres, we have a global multinational (AB INBEV), a globally recognized technology centre (IMEC), a leading European University (KU Leuven) and hospital (Gasthuisberg). Above all though it's the hugely talented, modest people that make all the difference. Young and friendly, this place makes a small but vibrant community with the best of what a city and what a village can offer.
