An idea worth spreading

Big shock riots in Britain not. We have had successive governments increase the benefits of the underclass instead of dealing with the problems directly. What are the problems? Whole areas of Fatherless kids where no one goes out to work. People in these area have put up with antisocial behaviour for years. Ignored by the police and allowed to run riot. Well now they have broken out. Nothing new Frank Field MP has been telling the last two governments for years.

I'm passionate about

Environment. This this does not mean I want windmills all over the country. I want serious scientific research to see what really helps the environment not just knee jerk reactions by governments

why protests don't work in the long run
Interesting. Education as you say should be available. However what do you do with the people that have education available but have no desire to learn. Perhaps desire is the wrong word. No hunger to learn. Your right some people will complain about the apples, some will complain and not know what apples are. However you will only get a lot of people protesting if all the fruit in rotten.

I cannot agree I'm afraid. History is littered worldwide with protests that have changed the status quo. Even now people are protesting and dying while they are protesting. Some of the protests will fail but some will succeed. Without thinking too hard the following events spring to mind. Americans out of Vietnam. Jarrow march in England, Berlin Wall. Poll tax in England and the recent change of government in Egypt. I would go as far to say as real change doesn't happen without protest!
