We've seen the future, and it looks pretty cool.

Every day, thousands of Intel innovators help create new markets, inspire future generations and foster new possibilities.

Intel innovation is legendary, starting with our invention of the microprocessor in 1971 and continuing today. In fact, each transistor in Intel's 45 nanometer processors uses 1/7000th (one seven thousandth) of the power compared to a transistor in the first processors that Intel manufactured in 1971 -- a remarkable achievement in energy efficiency. If automobile fuel efficiency had improved at the same rate, today's cars would get nearly 100,000 miles per gallon.

From energy efficient processors that dramatically cut energy consumption to the distributed intelligence enabling the smart grid to breakthroughs in microarchitecture that are enabling the “continuum of computing,” Intel innovation is inventing the future like never before.

That innovation is also at work in the classroom. Intel sponsors global and national high school science competitions -- including the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair and the Intel Science Talent Search -- as part of our dedicated effort to inspire a new wave of brilliant minds. Past finalists include seven Nobel Prize winners, and 70 percent of participants go on to complete an MD or PhD.

From educating the next generation of innovators to solving real-world challenges to creating new markets and connecting billions of new users, Intel's life-enhancing innovation is making life better today and creating new possibilities for tomorrow. It's how we shape the future, and it's what we do every day.
