"I wish that we will work together to help create the key tool that we need to inspire preservation of Earth’s biodiversity: the Encyclopedia of Life."
THE PLAN
Create an online encyclopedia with a webpage for every species. Develop a platform where users can find trusted, consolidated information from resources around the world.
CURRENT STATUS
In 2011, a redesigned and vastly expanded version of the Encyclopedia of Life launched. The site includes 1 million pages with verified scientific data, over 60,000 members, links to related biodiversity literature, images and more. EOL works with over 200 international content partners and countless individual scientists to safeguard the rich spectrum of life on the planet.
