How can the idea of a flipped classroom be used on a massive scale? Also, how can it be improved?
I love the idea of a flipped classroom. Personally, I would enjoy school a great deal more if I did not have to listen to the same cookie cutter lectures every day. I am just curious about how the flipped classroom could actually be adopted by everyone in the educational world.

The idea to harness the internet more efficiently is involved directly in the heart of the idea to allow children to create their own educations - that and the idea they will like to learn....
Flipped classroom's outline is outstanding. It should be done in all public systems to save millions on text books - and to spend millions more on the staff. I think this type of education would only be better for older children (12+).
Younger children do need the sense of authority that the traditional system provides, but also that is in needed to expand to more than just "education theory" but by having to gather their own (each educator) theories through the subset fields of education.
The entire education needs reformation, not just the classrooms. Teachers shouldn't be the only ones active in supporting the unionization and protection of teachers. Public education is required for the world to get better... To be cheap or to not be concerned with reformation, globally or locally, is to allow the future to progress in seemingly digressive ways.
Also, education is simply not going to a building to learn, or to a laptop - but by what you apply those things learned from the building and laptop.

I also agree that the entire system needs reform. I see the idea of a flipped classroom as a great start in that direction. What else can we change to improve the system?

I have like 3 curriculum system theories..
Basically... Harness the internet, abuse tablets and allow democracy while having a guiding hand of general topics to investigate.

Do you mean the notion of students doing the majority of the key work at home and essentially checking understanding in school as the teacher facilitates the next stage? I teach my students in art and design that the school bell does not decide when learning starts and when I say to them 'when does learning stop? they say 'it doesn't'! to have 15 year old say this is a dream.

I see the flipped classroom as more of learning the curriculum required material at home by the use of video lectures (such as Salman Khan's). In this setting, the teacher frees up a lot more time during the day for creative discussions and applying the topics to relevant problems. I feel that, in this way, the teacher can actually make more of an impact on students by showing them ideas rather than concepts.
