  • Dec 27 2011: I wish that everyone would express truth as they behold it at the moment of expression. I wish that people spoke positive words and committed positive acts only. I think we could transform this wonderful world of ours into a happy place for everyone in less than one generation, perhaps within one year. Then we can all just breathe deeply, breathe slowly, relax and enjoy each other and life as it seems to me we are obviously supposed to do. We currently possess all the freedoms, resources and powers we need to co-create a happy life for all. Let's do it. HAPPY TODAY.

Jan 16 2012: How would you steer people around you to express truth? I'm curious about your ideas!

Jan 16 2012: I hope Rhona will return with her enthusiastic ideas about expressing truth. I believe the best way to "steer" other people to anything is by walking our talk..."being" what we want to "see" in our world.

To me, truth is easy, and to be clear and truthful with others, we need to be clear and truthful with ourselves. The alternative, is to build a mind boggling mountain of un-truths with ourselves and others. Once we start expressing un-truths, we (humans) need to constantly cover up by creating more and more un-truths. That's why I say it is easy. When we are truthful all the time to ourselves and others, we don't have to "spend" the energy creating layers of masks, protective mechanisms and "cover ups" for ourselves. To know we are truthful with our "self" creates more peace and simplicity in our lives, and that is how we have the opportunity to "steer" others. When people see that truth is simple and peaceful, they may create the same thing in their lives...or not...it's a choice:>)
        • Jan 16 2012: Rhona has returned, but I have no idea as to what to say. Hmmm. That ought not prevent me from writing more words here. Let's see "steer," "truth." That's the kinda stuff we are discussing here. I completely agree with Colleen that " ...walking our talk..."being" what we want to "see" in our world" is the shortest cut to our achieving the happy world of our thoughts, feelings, dreams, hopes and all. Maybe that's the only effective way. I guess i agree with approximately or actually 100% of what Colleen wrote in the above 2 paragraphs. Maybe everything we are and do is contagious, so if we speak truth, make positive choices, feel happy, others will do these things. I sense we are making a great deal of progress accomplishing all of our positive goals here on ted.com.

      Jan 16 2012: Hey Rhona...nice to "see" you again:>)
I agree with you that everything we are and do is contagious. If one believes that we are interconnect energy beings, which I believe, then our energy moves and flows to and from each other, and we are like mirrors, reflecting back and forth to each other all the time...what we focus on expands. So, in that respect, it is like the ripple effect, or the butterfly effect...contagious.....it spreads...and I am a "carrier" of this contagion:>)
      • Jan 17 2012: Some of us seem to be positive mirrors. Thanks for being that for me. In a way, you and I seem redundant here on ted.com, though I sure hope we both continue here. I sense that we are accomplishing all of our positive goals. Thanks for being the way you are right now and doing all the positive things you do. I appreciate your making my world better and better and better through all of your positive words and deeds. HAPPY TODAY.

Jan 17 2012: We can never have too many "positive mirrors":>)
Thank you for your kind words, and I reflect them back to you:>)
Happy Today Rhona...thanks for being you and sharing the gift:>)
  • Jan 19 2012: You are welcome. Thanks. Guess we may as well continue being as wonderful as we are right now. Come to think of it, if we continue doing all the positive things we do, it is inevitable that we will continue getting better and better. We are doing so very many right things! I can feel, see, smell and know we are having the positive impacts we desire to have. YIPPPPEEEEEEEEEEE for us! Our contemporaries are soooooo lucky to have us among them. I'm sure they realize it.

Jan 16 2012: A city has been a geographic concept for many centuries, but in the era of Facebook and other SNSs, a virtual city of like-minded people on the globe is plausible. In fact, this very TED network may be a seed of it. True the spatial proximity may facilitate face-to-face in-depth communication, but a web of global citizens would make a big difference in making the earth truly a "learning planet."

      Jan 16 2012: I agree Masato,
"A web of global citizens would make a big difference in making the earth truly a learning planet".
And here we are...participating in that process NOW:>)
    • thumb
Jan 23 2012: Thank you, Homma-san, for your participation! I totally agree with you. This kind of online based global network will help shape a new type of city, I think. What we need to do is to simultaneously build a system/infrastructure to implement what we create and decide on the web into the real tangible world.
  • Dec 28 2011: Colleen, I reached my maximum on thumbs up for you. Thank you for expressing your agreement with what I said. HAPPY TODAY to you and all you love. :>)+

Jan 16 2012: Thank you very much for posting in Japanese:) Do you have any tips and findings to realize peace in your life?

        Jan 16 2012: Dear Naho,
I used google translate...you probably guessed!!! I am always humbled by the number of people in our world who speak my first language (English), and several other languages. When I visit other countries, I usually learn a few words in the language, and I find languages fascinating. So, I thought I'd do the same thing here on TED. Since you posted your question in Japanese, it was a good opportunity for me to explore that language:>)

The greatest "tips and findings to realize peace" in my life, is to live peacefully. As I said in my other comment, I believe it is very important to walk our talk..."be" what we want to "see" in our world. I would not deny myself the opportunity to connect with other people with peace in my heart. When people cannot live peacefully, they deny themselves a gift. When we cannot be peaceful in ourselves, we cannot be peaceful with others, and again, we deny ourselves a gift.

There is a quote that I love from "Science of Mind" by Ernest Holmes:
"One of the great difficulties in the new order of thought is that we are likely to indulge in too much theory and too little practice. As a matter of fact, we only know as much as we can prove by actual demonstration".

We see and hear quite a bit of talk about finding peace, happiness, contentment in our world. It is now time to "DO" it...to "BE" it...to PRACTICE" it in our everyday lives. We experience peace first in ourselves...that is where it must start.

Jan 23 2012: I like your thought and sympathize with you! I also believe that me being able to create inner peace gives peace to others and to the world. When do you find yourself peaceful? I have many "clicks" to create a peaceful moment in daily life. One of them is to see and pet animals! Communicating with the other spices than humans is very important to me.

        Jan 23 2012: Hi Naho,
You ask "when do you find yourself peaceful"? Every single moment of every day. Being peaceful in oneself is a choice we have in each moment. "Peaceful", is an underlying feeling/emotion we can have in our hearts always...all ways:>) Regardless of the external circumstances, or influences in our lives, we can choose peace in our 'self". I feel peaceful with every day tasks...washing dishes, laundry, shoveling snow...hauling wood and stoking the wood stove to stay warm in the winter...gardening in the summer...spending time with friends...biking...skiing....and although I don't have any animal friends as pets at the moment, I love animals, and love observing birds and animals in the wild. As soon as more people discover that peace, happiness and contentment come from within ourselves, rather than dependant on external influences, we may have more of that in our world. So, for me, the "click" that creates peaceful moments in daily life, is simply my choice to be peaceful:>)
