All adult citizens should have unconditional access to their unaltered original birth certificate (obc).

In the U.S., only six states allow all citizens (adopted or not) unconditional and unaltered access to their original birth certificate. These states include: Alabama, Alaska, Kansas, Maine, New Hampshire and Oregon.

    Dec 25 2011: Lori, I didn't address your statement. I believe adoptees do not have the rights to their obc, because adopted parents of adoptees do not want their kids to know their natural families. There is also the possibility natural mothers may consider a class-action law suit.
    All adoptees should have their obc when they turn 18.
    Hope you get lots of supporters.

    Dec 24 2011: After much research, we found the natural family of an adopted 65-year old cousin in 2009. Prior to finding the family, we read every book published regarding adoption we could find. To that end, our family has come to the following conclusion; Infant-Stranger-Adoption, should be illegal. Infants should be kept within their biological family. And not only in the US, but world-wide. Australia and Japan have also taken this stand. Unfortunalty, it will be years before the United States matures to learn the importance of families mental health issues.. Adoption agency's like to make money...and they make a lot of it. Women who give birth in a stressed situation, are not "read their constitutional rights" to an attorney funded by their local district attorneys office, and other sources. Nor are they informed of all the services available to them to keep their kid. Adoption in the US, and other countries, is a con-job, and a serious human rights issue that needs the worlds attention.

      Dec 25 2011: Xavier, we have Jesus birth documented in the Holy Bible. The Bible trumps the court house vital statistics office in any city.
