What is a good book to read?

I struggle to find a book to read and generally choose not to read. I need a good book, I'm into War, History, Biology, and some shakespeare

  • Nov 30 2011: History: Please read Shelby Foote's The Civil War: A Narrative. Great story, very well told.
Thomas Kuhn: The Structure of Scientific Revolutions.
    • Nov 30 2011: That's amazing! I am reading Kuhn right now. Great stuff but I confess it is a struggle to read. I wish he could have mad ehis essential points more clearly when he complains that scientific texts now are written so obtusely that only insiders can grasp them so as to separate the rest of society from the process he still writes it ina very dense manner.....
      • Nov 30 2011: Hang in there with Kuhn. It is a seminal work. Stay with him though not the popularizations.
    • Nov 30 2011: Has anyone seen Jared Diamond's view or read his book on Guns, Germs, and Steel?
  • Nov 30 2011: Oh my! Where to start. Are you seeking fiction, would biography catch your mind? If you eschew reading have you tried books on tape? I find I get loads more "reading" time in my day by listening to books in the car while commuting.

Are you looking for straight science or history??? Tell me more....

Try the book Overthrow. History, war and intrigue yet factual.
  • Nov 30 2011: Oh yeah, Diamond's Guns, Germs and Steel!! Great read.
  • Nov 30 2011: Ok I will, and I want a factual book... Tapes don't work well for me! If you get anymore ideas please respond!
