Has cold fusion been discovered?

Italian scientists have demonstrated a machine that generates more energy than is input. Real or hoax?

If real it's possibly the biggest discovery in history right next to the transistor.

    Nov 13 2011: Cold fusion has been examined closely again and again. Pons and Fleischmann raised obscene amounts of money for their research and were never able to achieve anything.

    .one of my favorite topics..

    sure would be the golden fleece wouldn't it?

    It would chnage everything and immediately change who the 1% are.

    One experiment I saw documened was Sonar luminescence which created tiny points of firecely hot light in bubbles. And many sucessful lab expereiments have generated plasma .

    We will get there for sure..and it would be so amazing..would mean so much to all of us..the ultimate cheap universal renewable energy..no waste..dare we dream?

    The issue, when last I looked, was harnessing it, containing it.managing it..not generating it.

    Would be so cool if this guy turns out to have put us further along the path or one of the mnay other scientists working on this gets the breakthrough.Not all bad news for the Italian guy:

    Nov 7 2011: Better wait till next few years' Nobel prize announcements. If that is real, you will hear about it without much delay. Till then it is a hoax to me, as a non-physicist.

    Nov 7 2011: you can dismiss any such ideas as hoax. if it is not a hoax, you will hear about it again within a few months, so you don't miss too much.

    if you are a physicist, you work in the area, and you have access to necessary machines and tools, then you need to look into it more deeply.

    Nov 7 2011: We will know for sure when other people are able to run the same tests with the same results, and can do it in a way that unambigously rules out an ordinary chemical reaction.

    I remain intensely skeptical, but I would love to be proven wrong.
