Is the power of passion greater than that of knowledge?

In your experience, which has been the dominant one in generating your successes?

Nov 6 2011: It's difficult to say which one is more influential, since they play different roles. Passion is the psychological driving force behind committed action, but knowledge guides action to the most efficient purposes and effects. To use an analogy, passion is the wind propelling a sailboat, but without a compass to guide its direction, it won't arrive at any destination except by chance.

Nov 7 2011: Perhaps it should read is the power of wisdom or intelligence greater than the power of ignorance and personal greed? As passion and knowledge arise from very different processes and really aren't connected in the same way wisdom and ignorance are. Passion springs from our souls, hearts and spirits while what constitutes 'intelligence' is learned and culturally defined. I believe its more instructive to use comparisons which have a deeper connection and contintunity than disconnected concepts like passion and knowledge.

To answer your question I would offer the following quote.

" When and only when the power of love overcomes the love of power, then and only then can there be peace."

If peace isn't the end game of knowledge or passion, the human experience will soon be over. Think about it.

Nov 6 2011: In my life experiences, passion and knowledge are MOST powerful when used together:>)

I LOVE Tony's analogy..."passion is the wind propelling a sailboat, but without a compass to guide its direction, it won't arrive at any destination except by chance".

I use passion/intuition/instinct and listen to my heart for guidence. The logical thought process, including knowledge, is the compass that keeps me on the appropriate course:>)
    • Nov 6 2011: So it might be a question of perspective, in which each individual will have to decide for themeless to which extent each of the important factors should be used or combined together in the most efficient of ways,
      Thank you for your response.

Nov 6 2011: Yes Adam...I agree that it is a question of perspective, and each individual will decide for themselves to which extent passion, knowledge, and all of the other important factors are used or combined together. In order to practice this, we need to know our "self".
Thank you for your insightful response as well:>)

Nov 6 2011: No doubt, passion is stronger. Passion has no limits but is stupid sometimes, knowledge limits itself with his own wisdom.

Nov 7 2011: Real success means innovation, breaking limits, creating something new and original. Only passion can provide this. But some people refer success as earning money, or social recognition or wining awards... . That kind of success can be provided by kwoledge needing very little passion.
    • Nov 6 2011: So you mean that passion is somewhat undefined and unlimited, and therefor inherit a greater chance of provoking success. Knowledge itself is based upon firm building blocks and can not be used with as much ''outside - the - box - thinking''.
      Thank you for your response.
