Becoming a global citizen by having a global perspective

What is the meaning of being a global citizen? Do you have to be well traveled? Do you literally have to leave your country boundaries?

I believe that the variety of TED talks around the world that i devotedly watch and listen to have helped me gain a more global understanding of various conversations that are going on around the world. I think it would be a great idea to bring awareness to this rare ability to transform mindsets through platforms such as TED .

Given the fact that not everyone has resources to travel, this is one sure way of fostering diversity of thought.

  • Nov 6 2011: I like your idea of becoming a global citizen through a platform like TED. I myself have not traveled a lot in the world. But i believe it is not only by travelling around that you can broaden your perspectives and become more globalized. Indeed there is no better way than actually experiencing the different parts of the world, but even virtual experience helps a lot.

You can get to know all the different views and ways of others and can get to know a lot about them. So yeah I think the various TED talks have what it takes to change our mindset, broaden our thinking, and help us come closer to what we call, 'a global citizen'.
