TEDtalk on TED-like settings throughout history
It would be interesting to hear a talk on the evolution of the intellectual sphere throughout time. The common entities I keep hearing about and finding are related to the Italian and French salons 3-4 centuries ago. Recently found them referenced in de Tocqueville's Democracy in America. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Salon_(gathering)
