If non -carbon cells could have endless applications, what would they be and who would be able to assess the environmental risks
As he talked of the possibility of building blocks of non carbon-based cells, I thought about Biofab and bio hacking in general and imagined that these new organisms could be use in environmental conditions that are hostile for carbon-based life or where energetic resources for organic life are usually a problem if their demands would be different.
All this, nonetheless, brings risks of, as he calls them, "matter hazard".
My question is, what and who do you imagine should be used as a regulating authority, what measures could be taken to limit and counteract hazards and, more basically, should these things ever be commercialized at all?
